Always a little dubious at visiting a mobile food vendor ( Van on street ). However, took the plunge finding myself in Cambridge, based on reviews. Also convenient location, short walk to Cambridge train station, plus outside a park with benches & bins. I am an experienced traveller visiting many locations UK based daily. I have worked at a school friends Turkish restaurant, where every kebab dish was lovingly prepared. So I am fussy with high expectations, I especially dislike seeing the doner kebab rotary - the type in chip shops all over the place. Obviously processed, made cheaply to satisfy the hunger of many a drinker who not that bothered about quality. I naturally am drawn to the artisan hand made variety. Was hopeful Hungry Kebab could offer a quality doner, sadly it looked a sad sight. I often walk away, when I spot such a tired looking questionable piece of whatever. I had walked over a mile to get to the van. Parked on the outskirts of a council estate did not put me off. As the park & benches offered me a comfy seat. On approach the menu is overwhelming, huge - bigger than in most restaurants. The guys seemed welcoming & pleasant enough. A confusing start with kofte, not on a skewer more like mini burgers ready to go on grill. The options are small, Large & extra Large, pitta bread or wrap. I opted for a wrap with chips & a drink. I have to say £15 is expensive for a street kebab from a van. A little surprised, but remained silent. Next customers arrived who were happy & had a good vibe. The server kept them in conversation, jovial & inquisitive made my wait interesting. I received a free Turkish delight in a foil packet. I gracefully accepted, I darent ask on the baklava price. I made a fatal error of watching the wet salad enter my wrap. I should have avoided this as nobody likes a soggy bottom. Sure enough it went through to my trousers. I eagerly got to my bench, to tuck in. First disappointment the meat was cold, barely warm hence 4 stars. Otherwise it would be a 5 star. The taste was incredible, chilli sauce perfect. Salad, not special, pretty boring. Next time be sure to order the salad in a separate container. Chips are always risky from anywhere especially from a van. Again surprisingly very good, the correct temperature, not greasy, The portion for a wrap is huge. Enough for 2 people, I have a large appetite so no trouble for me. Boring cold wet salad spoilt the wrap as too much in the thin wrap. All in all a very good experience for taste plus portion size. Price not explained with combo on menu. Too much to decipher, needs to be simpler. That's me being fussy again. The small Turkish delight was delicious, soft / sweet but not overly sweet. The drink was absolutely amazing, I never drink fizzy cans. This one just right after a spicy kebab. I am so disappointed as to the meat being barely warm, a shame as it was just cooked. I can recommend this place definitely. I would add simply talk, ask many questions. If you like your food hot, then ask for it to cook longer for the heat to stay warm longer. Separate soggy salad so it doesn't soak through to your leg. Or worse car seat. Remember dear hosts of a cracking mobile takeaway business, each customer needs the love, from conversation to food. If in pass through I will make a...

Read moreI ordered from this place based on the reviews, but I was extremely disappointed. The quality of the food was well below average. The chicken shish had an excessive amount of salt, on the verge of being inedible. Despite requesting salads on the side, they were completely missing. The falafel was bland and tasteless—at £1.24 a piece, I expected them to either be homemade or, at the very least, high-quality frozen ones but they were neither. These days, you can get much better and tastier falafel from the supermarket. Not an enjoyable food experience.
@Hungrykebab I appreciate you wanting me to get in touch but I don’t want a refund or anything else. I placed my order through Uber Eats on 30/12/24 and initially left a comment there right after receiving the order. Since I made my purchase based on other customers' reviews, I thought it was important to share my own experience so future customers can make informed decisions. Thank you for...
