By far the worst escape room we've ever done.
Did the Labyrinth escape room today, wife and I have done dozens of these and were excited to share the experience with my cousin and her husband.
Unfortunately, half of the experience did not work, the theming was lazy and uninspired and our host could hardly have cared less about the whole thing.
Two of the puzzles simply did not work at all - one of which the host quickly said 'it's not working, I've unlocked the door for you' (annoying but fine), the other of which we spent half an hour looking for a key that we later discovered was on the floor on the other side of the door it locked (i.e. we had no chance of finding it).
The worst part of this is that our host took 10 minutes 'thinking' about what we could do about this missing key, only to stop responding by walkie talkie. After standing in the cold for 10 minutes with no response, I had to tell him to just unlock the door so that we could move on.
I could have forgiven the 'you're looking for a ruby. In you go good luck' minimum effort briefing that did nothing to get us excited, the boring black walls half of which were falling apart, the locks that needed to be tried several times to unlock even if we had the solution right, and the two out of four torches that didn't have enough battery to last even half the time (I did tell our host mine was out of battery before we went in but he wasn't interested - you can't see anything without the torches so half of us were blind half the time), if the puzzles had actually worked, the theme wasn't bland and lazy (and sometimes jarringly childish...) and the host had made any effort either to get us excited about the game or help us when we physically could not progress. Alas.
Do not waste your time or money here - go to KnowEscape in Moulsham Mill (excellent) or Escape Live near the train station (also very good) instead - you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThree of us did Circus yesterday as a Christmas present for my visiting Granddaughter. She's done lots of these in London and Brighton and said this was the worst and a waste of money. Props and decor were in poor, damaged and well used condition. Not well thought out sequence in our opinion. Where we couldn't progress any further at the end the host tried to show us what to do, but even then we couldn't make this particular thing work. Also website said a 75 minute game, which is one of the reasons I booked here and not an alternative, so when we thought we'd paced ourselves with 20 minutes left we were informed only 5 minutes to go. Afterwards the host said 15 minutes of that was for him to set up the room for the next people. The host was pleasant but I wouldn't recommend this. We were very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent today and was very disappointed. As other customers have pointed out, games were broken (host admitted the board was broken), host coming in half way through to give us a white board marker and the floor was really dirty (then you spent half the time on your hands and knees). Found we were simply shouted at over the walkie talkies and the fun was simply taken out of it. We were given lots of clues without asking and didnāt even understand half the storyline. Also, once we came out, was told to go and find out our time and get a voucher for next visit, only to be asked multiple times āare you okay?ā as if they didnāt know what we was waiting for. Only after asking for our time did they give it to us and then had no pen to write our names down. Just a let down really and wouldnāt...
