Great cinema, would highly recommend. Independent cinemas are SO much better than big chains! The experience overall is much better and the tickets are always cheaper. Keep these little ones going and have a better experience!
We parked in the car park behind co op (which was handy as could get some sweets en route to the showing!), it’s free after 18.00 but only a couple of pound before hand. I think this is the closest long stay car park which is a short 1-2 minute walk away from the cinema.
We checked in easily at the desk, they accept meerkat 241 making it an extremely cheap outing! The staff were friendly.
Screen 1 itself was wonderful, comfortable seats with armrests and drinks holders and enough leg space for me and my partner (both under 6ft). The screen is set back as it’s an old theatre. There was 10 minutes of adverts starting from the showing time before the film started. We watched a 3 hour film and there was an intermission in the middle where the curtain came down over the screen, it was approx 8 minutes long and gave a warning when the film was about to restart. It was ideal for such a long showing as gave everyone a chance to get another drink and use the toilet which is just outside the screen.
Screen 1 is up several stair cases so if you are looking to book with a wheelchair or accessibility concerns I would call ahead rather than book online to ensure the experience is...
Read moreI went here for the first time to see John Wick 3 and was left a little disappointed. Not by the movie but by the cinema. When I sat down in front of a large gold curtain, I was expecting a fairly large screen to be behind it. Sadly, when the curtain opened, there was a disappointingly small screen with what looked like a 16:9 aspect ratio instead of the typical 21:9 you get in most cinemas. This meant an already small screen was made even smaller by black bands, top and bottom. In addition, like in most cinemas these days, the volume was too high but in this case it was uncomfortably high. At certain points, my ears were ringing, that's not acceptable. And to add insult to potential injury, halfway through the film, they stopped it for an intermission. An intermission, like it's 1972. A man came round with a tray of refreshments. I won't be...
Read moreHave been coming here for 40 years but have never been so cold inside. Spoiled Andre Rieu yesterday. Many other customers were also cold and most sat in their large, outdoor coats. Seems so unnecessary. Each time we were beginning to get used to the cold we were subjected to a burst of freezing air from the grills in the walls, presumably from the aircon! Why was it on? I had to get a coffee at the intermission solely in order to hold it to warm both my hands and to place it on my legs to try to get some feeling back. I did ask the young man who was selling the coffee if something could be done about the cold. He said he would ask his manager, but there was no change in the second half. This was a very...
