Finally, a coffee shop that gets it right!

What a fantastic coffee shop this is. First impressions are that the place is modern, clean and has a great atmosphere. The shop is laid out very well with the counter as soon as you walk in where you are greeted by happy and smiling staff, and a beautiful looking selection of cakes. We had peach iced tea, hot chocolate, cappuccino and three Crwfins (pronounced Cruffins), a mixture of a croissant and a muffin! They were fresh, soft and filled to bursting as well as being delicious. The coffee (Cappuccino) was one of the best I have had in a long time.

We took a window seat with some comfy sofas and didn't feel cramped in at all. The place is very dog friendly and so the tables have a lot of room between them but this also made for a light, airy and relaxed feel to the place.

Looking forward to returning for lunch as the sandwiches and filled croissants look amazing. Will definitely be bringing the dog too as they have a great menu and treats especially for them.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and lovely to see them happy, smiling and chatty.

I’ve been wanting to try this popular coffee shop for ages🥹 Today I finally made it to their Portishead branch for a visit💕The whole place is beautifully decorated and very detailed — every corner is so Instagrammable🙂‍↕️ The best part is that they’re super dog-friendly! Almost every table had customers bringing their dogs along, and you can even buy dog treats right inside the coffee shop🐶 I’d recommend the lemon chicken + smashed avocado one more — the chicken was quite tender with a slight lemony aftertaste, paired with the soft avocado mash, it was spot on🤭 The other parma ham + burrata + pistachio pesto was pretty average and on the salty side (the bread itself was already a bit salty, and with the ham and pesto, it became even saltier 🥲). Maybe if they swapped the sauce for honey + nuts, it would feel better? 🥹 As for the coffee — the iced Americano was really bland, almost like drinking iced water💀 The mocha didn’t have a strong coffee taste either, and the chocolate was on the sweet side☹️ Overall, the quality was slightly disappointing. I’ve been going to Coffi lab for a few years now and thought I’d write this review in hopes of highlighting a repeated issue. I always order a flat white when I come in and sometimes it’s done brilliantly, however other times it’s like an ice cream. This is an issue I’ve had repeatedly and I’m not normally the kind of person to make a fuss about this but the times I do get what I paid for it’s getting less and less. I’ve attached an image of the “flat white” I had today. Like I said, might seem ridiculous I’m complaining about this but it’s just so frequent and I’d feel more comfortable writing a review than making a fuss at the counter. I hope this encourages further training because tbh I don’t think most people understand what a flat white is.
