Indian Empire offers a fantastic dining experience that blends authentic flavours with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, the ambience sets the tone elegant mood lighting, creating a relaxed and intimate setting, perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. The restaurant is impeccably clean, and the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. The waiters are not only friendly but also knowledgeable, offering helpful recommendations without being intrusive.
On the recommendation of our attentive waiter, I opted for the Chicken Saagwala with added potatoes, and it was a brilliant choice. The dish featured tender pieces of chicken cooked with finely blended spinach and aromatic spices. The addition of potatoes added a hearty, comforting element that balanced the dish beautifully. It paired excellently with the fluffy basmati rice and a wonderfully soft cheesy naan bread, which had just the right amount of gooey cheese without overpowering the other flavours
To start, the poppadoms were crisp and fresh, served alongside a vibrant selection of chutneys and sauces. The standout was the mango sauce, sweet, tangy, and the perfect complement to the crunchy poppadoms.
Portion sizes here are generous, offering great value without compromising on quality. Overall, Indian Empire holds its own among the best Indian restaurants I’ve visited, and I would confidently place it joint number one in and around Bristol, right alongside Black Cumin.
If you're looking for authentic Indian cuisine served with care and flair, Indian Empire is absolutely...
Read moreDidn’t eat in but got a takeaway and collected. Thought the setup was slightly strange because collection point was at the rear of the restaurant so anyone collecting would have to walk past seated diners. We ordered chicken tikka masala, Pilau Rice, sag aloo, onion bhajis, peshwari naan, popadoms and pickles. The chicken and sag aloo were the best I’ve tasted. The popadom pickles were not to my taste (the mango was too thick to dip into and the mint sauce had a spicy kick as though it has mustard added to it). In my opinion the onion bhajis were reheated and so dry we couldn’t eat them. If they had been freshly cooked then I think they would have been amazing (nice big round balls as opposed to the flat ones we have had before). Similarly the peshwari naan in my opinion was reheated. Too dry and it went in the bin with the bhajis. On balance we will take a chance and go again because I think if everything was cooked fresh to order then the meal would have been amazing. Best of luck to the team who were polite...
Read moreTo be honest…the atmosphere was ok. Busy crowd. But the service was non-existent. Waited an hour for starter then they brought it along with main course 🤦🏼♂️ and didn’t offer an apology…only that they were busy. Not my problem. I am always happy to endure bad service if the resultant food is good. But unfortunately it really wasn’t. I don’t often bother with reviews. I’m not a review person. But this place upset me. I’ve eaten in a thousand Indian restaurants all across the globe and never really had a bad meal. This was bad. It lacked any flavour, no chili and stale vegetables. Uncooked prawns probably because there was so little organisation in the kitchen that they didn’t know whether my meal (king prawn biryani) contained cooked prawns or raw prawns. The stale vegetable flavour in the sauce made me gag. So bad. It upsets me to leave this review. But it was bad. I find it difficult to believe other locals have said their food is ok. This wasn’t a bad night one-off...it’s just a bad restaurant....
