Cineworld in high Wycombe has become increasingly frustrating due to constant disruptions, making it difficult to enjoy the movie experience. Whether it’s teenagers chatting, adults talking loudly, or people constantly using their phones, these issues happen far too often. Going to the cinema should be immersive and enjoyable, but instead, I find myself questioning whether it’s worth the hassle.
One of the biggest problems is the lack of staff presence inside screenings. I shouldn’t have to leave a movie I paid £10 or £12 for—on top of expensive snacks—just to report disruptive behavior. Staff rarely intervene unless someone complains, which is both inconvenient and unfair to paying customers who expect a distraction-free experience.
One particularly uncomfortable experience involved two couples kissing and cuddling right next to me. It was distracting and made me uncomfortable, but I didn’t want to miss part of the film by getting up to report it. Luckily, a staff member happened to notice and asked them to leave, but this shouldn’t rely on chance. If they hadn’t intervened, I would have had to endure the entire movie in discomfort.
Cineworld needs to take action by enforcing stricter policies against disruptions. A simple yet effective improvement would be for staff to conduct routine walk-throughs during screenings. This would deter disruptive behavior and show that Cineworld takes cinema etiquette seriously.
Another much-needed improvement is an easier way to report disturbances. Instead of forcing customers to leave their seats, Cineworld could introduce an in-app reporting feature or place QR codes on seats, allowing moviegoers to discreetly notify staff about issues. This would ensure disturbances are addressed quickly without further interrupting the viewing experience.
The whole point of going to the cinema is to enjoy a film on the big screen without distractions. If Cineworld continues to ignore these issues, more people will simply choose to stay home and watch movies on streaming services instead. That would be a shame because a true cinema experience should be enjoyable, not something customers have to tolerate.
Until Cineworld in high Wycombe improves how it handles these situations, I can’t fully recommend it. They need to step up and create an environment where moviegoers feel...
Read moreI'm an Unlimited card holder so I go to this cinema a lot, but my eyes have been opened ever since I tried the Hemel cineworld and the Watford one. Sadly this cineworld in High Wycombe is far behind the times compared to these two. I strongly suggest you make the trip over to either Hemel or Watford because the experience is so much better. The seats at Hemel are so much more comfortable and you have no one's head in your way. You sit up so high, that the person in front of you head is by your feet. You can see every corner of the screen.
The Wycombe Cineworld is ok, they need to reopen the ticket desk and not allow tickets to be sold at the popcorn stand, constantly having long ques because of this. The speakers in some of the screens need to be re-positioned so that they don't cast shadow on to the screen.
I also liked it when this cinema allowed you to book in on a film and not the seat, and you chose were to sit once you arrived in the screen. I think if this was reintroduced it would help stop people arriving late to films as people would want a good seat.
Wycombe also need to get with the times, no option for contactless payment! This would also make things just that little bit quicker.
The Cineworld in High Wycombe is ok but could be a lot better. I really wish it had and IMAX and 4DX.
UPDATE I was in screen 12 for Avengers Endgame, seats were incredibly uncomfortable, sound was awful couldn't here some of the dialogue and I'm 33 so I don't think I have lost my hearing yet. The quality of the screen was poor, so much so you could see the texture of the screen itself. I'm booking to go see the film again but at Hemel on the Super...
Read moreSat in screen 9 for a viewing with my son. As mentioned in previous reviews, absolutely freezing, we now have colds, this did spoil the experience. Is the while cinema freezing or just that screen? Also some slow staff, when I complained about the cold and the fact checks are not regular enough, I was met with a staff member who had a serious attitude problem, just wanted to get rid of us. Checks are so infrequent that people are allowed to talk, photograph and film during the movie. I've given this cinema 5 chances now, and it's been below par every single time, once I came here they allowed nuisance drunks in, who were loud, talked through the whole film and abusive to other customers trying to enjoy the film, I couldn't hear a word of it. I had to go out of the screening to complain so missed lots of the film trying to find a staff member (Bob Marley film) eventually they got removed but by this point I was already done. Sticky floors, food usually left on seats, dirty horrible place that attracts several customers that have no interest in actually watching the film - not staffs fault who comes in, but more regular checks or staff staying for the duration of the film like they used to, would ensure those wanting to actually watch and listen to the whole film would be a much better experience. Save your money for great customer service and an appropriate temperature in the screening, go to Omniplex. I await...
