Hello,
My partner and I have wanted to visit this place for a long time and decided we will satisfy our cravings today. Firstly, the place in itself is not very attractive if that's what you are looking for. It is minimal with decor and sure has a huge scope for improvement. Second, the menu is very impressive and filled with mouth watering dishes . We couldn't try many on the menu but wanted to try a few given we were full after eating what we first ordered . We had ordered - Medu Vada, Idly Sambar, Rava Onion Dosa and Chicken Kutthu Porotta cost us £21.50 which was not very expensive. Vada , Idly and Sambar were very good. I can attest that this was better than the ones served in other well known South Indian Restaurant chains. We absolutely loved the taste of them. Onion Rava dosa was thick and wasn't very crispy in the middle and was thick instead which isn't to my liking but I do know some people who like it that way . I would have preferred red onions instead of white ones considering the strong taste that the former gives. My partner liked the Chicken Kutthu Parotta and the owner checked the spice level he wanted to make sure it would be to his liking . It was very flavourful and filling he said. We had a candid talk with the owner and he seemed to be very nice and warm. He did acknowledge that the place isn't the poshest looking of all but are willing to customize and improve the food's quality and taste for their guests. This is the best thing I found in him. I know for a fact that if I go in there again and mention , for example, that I like my Dosa crisp , he will be more than happy to deliver it to my expectation . After our talk , I had an impression that to them ( his wife who is the chef and himself) that what matters to them is keeping their customers happy by serving food they are craving to eat. I mean, is this not what everyone should be looking for rather than just focusing on profits ? I did understand they have a few regular guests coming to them and it looks like we are going to be one among them too.
Thank you very much sir for the service and the warmth you provided.
Hoping to visit again...
Read moreI live in High Wycombe and have wanted to try this place for the last year but they were always closed. Today I randomly passed and saw that they were open so took the oportunity to give it a go. I'm a white man, my wife is Indian, generally I have found that fancy places do not always have the most authentic food, not judging.........it's just been my experience. I have always had my best Indian meals in places that are no frills but have a warm and friendly vibe. A bit like how the restaurants are in India to be honest. Anyways, I was greeted at the door by a young man named Raakesh, he shook my hand, introduced himself and asked me my name. "Yes, this is more like it" I thought. He told me they have been open again since two days having been closed for a long time. I took a seat by the window and ordered a very simple dish off the menu, Dosa Masala. It was served just like how they do in India, on a metal tray with seperate compartments for the assorted masalas. Basically as real and authentic as it gets. Simply put, it was delicious. If you want to try real South Indian food, give this place a try, they are the real deal. What they lack in fancy decor they more than make up for with warmth and soul. The Aunty from the back kitchen came out and asked me if I liked my food. I just love places like this and the people who make them...
Read moreDid not know where to have our lunch ,but ended up having a fantastic south indian full meals in wycombe at Dosa special. Bought south indian thali, worth for money and received rice and 8 variety curries along with vadai (south Indian savoury doughnut) payasam ( indian dessert) pappodams and fried chilli for spice lover's. The staff was lovely and was so helpful when we told her we were unsure what to order, She described in great detail the various dishes and no one was disappointed with what they had.It has only been open for a short time but we would have no hesitation in going back again. The service, food and atmosphere were all excellent and now no need to drive out of wycombe to have South Indian food.... very pleased with food and fast...
