Cycle Heaven — Local services in Great Britain

I've recently purchased a new road bike from Cycle Heaven on Hospital Fields road. From start to finish the service has been 1st class. Having got into cycling about 3 years ago I started off with an entry level road bike, got bitten by the bug and decided to treat myself. I arranged to have a professional bike fit with CH to take advantage of the January deal and make improvements personally to my cycling. This was conducted by Piers who I dealt with through the whole process. The bike fit was conducted in an easy to understand manner and Piers made it fun and informative. He tweaked my riding position and gave me advice on posture before dumping all the info onto a file for me to take away. He then asked me a series of questions about my cycling and determined that im a "weekend warrior" (love that phrase) who wants to enjoy his road cycling with his mates and do a few sportives to challenge myself. Piers then took me through the vast range of bikes on offer at CH, talked about my budget, showed me available upgrades and talked me through what I should expect from each range of bike depending on my budget. It was an easy and enjoyable process an I felt Piers and his team would deliver.....I wasn't wrong. I went back to the shop for a test ride on the local roads and was really impressed with the bike Piers had recommended. Subsequently I ordered my bike, some new kit and a few accessories and went on holiday, Piers assuring me that all would be ready on my return. Again CH delivered without fault. They built my bike, added my upgrades and even swapped my pedals off my old bike to the new one, keeping me informed all the way through. I write this review after my first sportive of the season on my new bike with a big smile on my face. The bike Piers recommended is spot on for what I want to do, has my bike fit details all applied so I know im sat in the right position and getting maximum output from me and the bike. I hate to have to leave a negative review (and generally I'm not the type to do so) but I want to support local businesses and after a couple of negative experiences shopping there I do feel like shopping else where. I bought a bike earlier in the year and was happy with the service at the time but I've been back twice now and both times have come away feeling like I should have gone somewhere else.

Both times I have been in store since buying my bike I have found the customer service lacking. I've not owned a bike for 15 years until this year and am just developing my knowledge but when I've been in to pick things up I've felt the service has been quite contemptuous, like they would rather be doing something else and find my request for help irritating and below them. Even when I have explained that I don't know what I need and would like help I was never given even the slightest bit of education that you would expect from genuinely good customer service, just left swinging in the breeze and feeling a fool.

I should point out that this was the same staff member both times and I did have much better service from other staff members when I originally...

Knowing ZERO about road bikes but knowing I wanted one, I ventured into cycle heaven. I had no idea what I wanted or what to look for. Andy spent over 2 hours explaining the difference between bikes, the benefits of each and what would best suit my needs. I returned to the store a week later to purchase a bike, Andy wasn’t available, the chap who looked after me spent another 2 hours assisting and provided invaluable knowledge of accessories I required.

To prove these guys aren’t just providing an exceptional level of service for financial gain, I had an issue with one of my cleats after my first ride, went back in, the chap who looked after me couldn’t be more apologetic, owned the issue, provided FREE support and replacement part AND even a free cup of tea.

It takes a lot to impress me, but these guys have truly blown me away.

Buying online prevents people like this competing in today’s market. These guys make it a pleasure to deal with a local company, with fantastic values and an honest, genuine approach to customer care.
