First time at East Kilbride ice rink. I have to say overall experience was great. Why the 4 stars?? Best skate hire. The skates are not the silly blue skates you get in most places. They are nice looking black and white or all black skates. Ice rink is a decent size for my 2 kids and wife to skate round, I would prefer slightly bigger.

Now the reason I gave it four stars. It's suppose to be 2 hour slots. We arrived 15 mins early so we had time to get the skates and get ready. However, once they opened the gates at 2pm on the dot, we had to wait in queue for a further 20 mins after that to get to reception. It also took us 10-15 mins to get dressed. Now with 2 kids aged 9 and 5 this is not a quick experience. Once we got on the ice we had roughly 1hr 10 mins. So we have paid for the 2 HR slot and lost 50 mins. I would suggest to open the gates 15 mins early to let people in and get ready but NOT to let them on the rink til the actual time. This gives the customers the full 2 HR slot for...

Kids absolutely loved it, great size rink. Not impressed with the staff, 2 girls handing out the skates stopped at a really busy time to exchange Christmas gifts, while the queue got longer, then 1 never came back, and there were 2 lines as 2 hatches were open when we went up and after 5mins or so had to ask if they were serving in our line and was told no, so only 1 serving and we had to join the other queue, not very happy as it was huge and we were at the front of 1 of the queues that got ignored and the server left, and it's set sessions and we were at the 1530hrs one, so makes it even worse and the last session finished at 1500hrs. Was served by a really helpful and nice man at the tills, who seemed to be doing everything himself as the others were just standing about, the 3 stars...

Cute little rink; too bad it's the closest to me as Braehead is currently closed. I rent out the skates there which are ice hockey boots but with the serated edge, which is great as they provide much needed stability. Booking online was a breeze, non-issue there. I also like that the area off-rink is rubberized and extremely easy to walk on (same as the bathrooms). I would say there are two cons (IMO) to the place: 1) as some have already mentioned, they need to open earlier because the sessions are short, and by the time you get on the ice you have already lost time that you have paid for. 2) I wish the sessions were a bit longer, especially considering that they only open Thu-Sun. Other than that, no...

Booked try curling for my husband, son, friends and family. Jim Morrison was our coach for the 2 hour session. Great instruction...we all were amazed at the progress we made having never tried curling before! Start with basic do's and don'ts, then warm up and it was then next on to the ice. No expensive outlay as stones, sliders etc all provided. All you will need is warm , loose clothing, gloves if preferred and clean soled trainers. We had a great night and no doubt will be back in the future as its given us all a taste for it. We loved it. Thanks Jim Morrison! Give it a try...you'll amaze yourself! Fantastic!

Do not get your skates sharpened here! I asked for a 3/8 cut and what I got back was dangerously ground completely flat and pretty much ruined the blade. I tried skating in them before I checked them and no edge whatsoever. I even asked and the staff member had no clue. I'll likely have to get these first cut again in a proper shop. To be fair this episode has made me much less likely to visit unfortunately. Otherwise the rink is great and the staff are friendly, except for when they're ruining your equipment.
