Terrible and rude teachers. Let me tell you my story: I attended this college 5 years ago when I knew basic English. Someone tested my written and oral English and I was told to join Entry 3 level. However, in another college I was told that I could do GCSE in English because I was good at it. Unfortunately I had to stick to Leicester College because the other college had no place available and had to wait until August. So I decided to not waste my time and join the ESOL course in entry 3. I remember I persuaded teachers from Leicester College to move me up to GCSE level as I did not want to fall behind (I was 16 and I was supposed to be doing A levels and so I didn't want to loose academic years). Instead what they did was to move me down to entry 2 and it was such a waste of time for me because I learnt nothing. I was taught stuff that I already knew such as basic grammar etc... I carried on persuading with my broken English and a teacher called Thomas told me off saying that I did not deserve to move to a higher level because "I couldn't speak good English".
I moved to Regent College where I did my English GCSE for the first time in only 1 year and got a B grade. I passed other GCSE exams in the same year and passed every single one of them. I'm now studying at the University of Nottingham which is one of the most prestigious universities in the UK and I made it because I'm a quick learner, which Leicester College failed to recognise.
This experience affected my life for many reasons, so much that sometimes I still think about it. All my friends have graduated or doing their masters while...
Read moreTerrible! Lazy teacher. I came here three years ago to do gcse english. The teacher, sandra, half the time wouldn't mark my work and her excuse was that my work was good and so didn't need marking and that other students needed her help more than me. I'd finally had enough of this after yet another unmarked piece of work and expressed how i felt. To which she apologised infront of the class and actually sat down to mark the work for half an hour. To her, the course seemed a joke and she was immature. She was like the naughty student who didn't care. Although it wasn't quite about her. She completely wasted my time. She found out i wasn't going to attend the exams to which she pleaded i do. Most likely so it doesnt look bad on her. I will be attending loughborough college instead and so far so good.
With loughborough college i achieved a 9 grade in my gcse english and 86% for functional skills maths level 1. After results day for level 1 we did a level 2 paper and i got 92% so they then decided i do gcse maths instead of level 2...
Read moreDuring my time at Leicester College Abbey Park Campus. I used to come to this campus once a week with Sam Newman on a Tuesday for Drama and Musical Theatre. But then the stupid Virus and lockdown spoilt it midway as college closed.
I was upset that my Drama and Musical Theatre was stopped due to the pandemic. This was the highlight of the week for me during my time at College. I actually loved this campus more than the Abbey Park one.
I loved the food at this campus from the canteen. I loved the variety foods. I loved the Pizza, Potato Wedges and Curly chips with the Sweet Chilli sauce. The food from this campus is mouthwatering.
The social space is brilliant at this campus. There's much more to do. There's a pool table, computers and a console. There's a table tennis too. If I ever had to go back to College. I would definitely come to...
