Where do i start... We checked in at around 15:30pm on the afternoon of the first day of the Nantwich food festival, parking was easy and free which was a bonus. However we were kept waiting for around 15 minutes at reception whilst the receptionist just casually conversed with a gentleman about what he had been up to in London! I actually had to intervene and ask if we could please check in which the male receptionist replied "two minutes" So i was already not greeted how i would like to have been!||There was a small flight of stairs on the lead to our room (which are not level due to the age of the building so beware if you have mobility issues), we were shown to room 2 at the front of the hotel. The room was as expected, aged, old furniture and décor however we weren't phased as this was in fitting with the age of the hotel. Bathroom was more modern and clean with plenty of toilet rolls!||The first thing i noticed was that the old sash windows could not be fully closed so we knew it could be noisy at night time but OMG we didn't expect it to be as bad as it actually was! There was also no warning of this, the hotel must know how bad it is, a recommendation i would give them is to at least offer earplugs in the room!|We looked around the food festival which was great and headed back to the hotel around 21:30pm, the noise was already horrendous, music blearing out, drunken youths constantly screaming and shouting outside the hotel and someone decided to stand outside with a ghetto blaster for around 20 minutes and blast music out up to around 23:00pm. This went on up to around 3am the next morning with no let up! When we finally got to sleep we were then woken my road sweepers at around 5:30am so very little sleep had! The bed is also old and hard so not the comfiest. ||The next night was just as bad... The hotel isn't even on a main road so unsure why it was so noisy, it certainly wasn't due to the food festival as that closed up by 19:00pm so it must just be the location. There was even a wedding on in the hotel on the Sat night and we didn't get noise from that just the outside noise through the small gap in the window. I am also not exaggerating when i say if felt like we were actually sleeping on the street outside a nightclub! I would not stay here again purely because of this, one of the worst hotel stays i have ever had and I've stayed in a lot of hotels!.||I cant comment on food as we didn't eat in the hotel, drinks were extremely expensive so wouldn't recommend to drink there either, there are more local places which...

Read moreHaving passed through Nantwich so many times over the last few years and only having spent a few hours wandering around the town here and there, I thought it was about time to book a stay over.
The Crown has always caught my eye being a contrasting black and white timber framed building rebuilt around 400 years ago after a fire in the 1580's.
So, with that kind of age in mind, expect a building with plenty of character full of quirk and charm and without a straight wall or even floor in sight in the original part of the building. Even the stairs leading up to the rooms slope to one side which after a few drinks in the lovely bar are strangely not so noticeable 🥴
The staff throughout our stay were very friendly and helpful, be sure to register your vehicle with reception if you park in the free designated spaces to the right of the car park to the rear of the hotel.
We stayed in room 2 (double) for a 1 night stay which again was full of quirk and character. It overlooked the pedestrianised street to the front and was quiet enough for a good night's sleep. Black beams, white walls, high ceiling and an uneven floor which gave you a high end and a low end in the room... it was great although a little disorientating at times when you forgot.
Noticed there was a small single room next door, same character features, very cosy and great for the single traveller.
Although there is a lovely menu and great food reviews, we ate out in town at the Mexican themed LoCo but only as we wanted a change to the more traditional dishes found here on the menu.
Great breakfast in the morning with your usual continental or full English fare... served weekdays 7:30 till 9 and cooked fresh to order.
Would happily stay here again and would...
