Top Deck Fish & Chips — Local services in Great Britain

'Top Deck' must surely be the best 'chippy' west of the River Taff! Besides the excellent quality of the food and the service, where else might you find a newly graduated Masters' student of Clinical Psychology fronting the 'point of sales'; calling the orders to animate the production team as they dip the cod and sausages into a delicately crafted batter; churn through the freshly cut buckets of chips and move into a higher gear as the lunchtime queue gets longer. I've become a regular customer in the last twelve months; happily travelling the extra mile from the banks of the River Taff to enjoy the benefits of the 'Seniors' option on the new, easier to see Menu display. For a bus pass user like myself it's a 'No Brainer' to take a lunch time break through the summer months in Victoria Park, enjoying a life affirming weekly treat. My 'Care worker' reminds me not to order extra 'deep fried delights' given the potential toll on my waistline and my borderline diabetes that such indulgences might bring. Meanwhile, I am able to seek advice about my addiction to fish and chips as 'an extra' to the slice of lemon and tarter sauce from the smart young woman with her modestly adorned MA. in Clinical Psychology. Great start, fish being cooked fresh, 7 mins I was told. Then another customer came in and a delivery driver. The staff became more concerned with the delivery driver and his order...20 or so mins later I asked where my order was...the reaction was 'oh do you want yours now' the staff member then took a box from the top of the heater (not from in it) the box had been sat there for 10 mins (So no longer freshly cooked fish). I questioned why they had left my order to concentrate on the delivery driver 'we do it in order' was the reply...obviously not because I was in the shop first and my food was left to one side, cooling down. I was really looking forward to eating the fish from here because I had heard very good reports. Sadly I felt the way I was treated and the fact my order was no longer fresh, I got a refund (Which I'm still waiting for on my card) Advice: if you have 3 people working at the same time (Which they did), allow someone to look after the customers in the shop and someone then to look after delivery...poor service, poor attitude...who knows what the food is like??? Not sure I will bother again, shame because I only live just around the corner and may of become a regular. Instead I will let all of my local friends know to be very wary before they go here (And that's a lot of people...

Very strange staff. They are all men and just stare at you with no expression. I asked for a cone off chips for my son and the guy repeatedly said he will put it in a tray. I said no in a cone. There are ready made cones next to him, and then he said curry and chips in a tray. How hard is it to just do a cone of chips! He was too busy staring out the window. Very odd. He handed me a tiny tray (the size that you put burgers in) I said what's this? And he said a tray of chips. Charged me £4.50 for that! Sadly I had already paid. Would never go here again and would never recommend either. Strange staff, tight on food,...
