I would strongly advise anyone considering using Wickes to think twice. I purchased a bathroom through their 0% finance scheme. Wickes failed to deliver part of my order, leaving me to pay out of pocket for the missing goods on the strict understanding that I would be refunded. Instead of refunding me, Wickes unilaterally altered my finance agreement without my knowledge or consent — something the finance company has since confirmed was unnecessary and could only be resolved if Wickes initiated the change. Despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue, Wickes have refused to take responsibility, incorrectly directed me to the finance company, and even claimed to have had conversations with me that never took place. The finance provider themselves have been helpful, but Wickes’ refusal to act has left me with no option but to escalate the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Adding to this poor experience: A Hippo bag full of waste from the installation has been left blocking my driveway for over five weeks, despite repeated promises of collection. This has caused constant issues getting in and out of my home. When I first tried to escalate my complaint, I phoned Wickes Bristol and requested to speak to a manager. I was left on hold for over an hour. While I was still on hold, my wife phoned separately and was connected to a manager immediately — which suggests either gross incompetence or a personal vendetta against us as customers. This is not just poor service — it is a complete disregard for consumer rights under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015. A simple refund has turned into weeks of stress, wasted time, and formal complaints. If this is how Wickes treat their customers when something goes wrong, I would never recommend them.

Way too many polar bears for my liking. Lucky I was in the lump hammer section so I was able to bludgeon it to death. Completely ruined my shirt.

Never again!.. Visited this store with my 80 yr old Father and my son, to get some shed felt and a couple of other items, the cost was £88 and my Father paid on his card.. during the checkout process ,the guy serving seemed okay enough but there were two overseeing the process and a couple of shifty side glances at him ,made me think to ask for a receipt. Thats when the trouble started... My Father had already put his card in the machine and the transaction looked to have gone through and so he was told to remove his card. When i asked for a receipt the checkout guy then said there was an issue, it wouldn't let him have one, just kept coming up with an expiry date??.. (being an anxiety sufferer this made me suspicious), we were then told they couldn't let us leave as it was now saying the transaction hadnt gone through!.. (yeh me, my 80 yr old father and my son were eager to get home to our criminal mastermind den to felt the roof..). The guy then called others over to help, and they all said the transaction hadnt gone through, could we ring our bank.. Then this mini ' miss attitude type, 12 yr old looking, female' came over and the way she spoke to me was quite disgusting. My 20 yr old even mentioned afterward how rude she had been, (and all he usually does is grunt n swing his hair in a mood most days) so that says a lot in itself!. She started laying down the law dictating and thinking she could tell me the way things were goona go!.. haha!.. So the only option we were left with was to ring the bank and check if my Father had been charged, thankfully due to their machines.. (and this was verified by a young chap who came out from the back when all this was going on said "oh no whats happened have the machines all frozen again?".."happens all the time"!..) , my Father hadnt been charged so we knew we were okay to try and checkout once again.. The young girl is a terrible representative of Wickes!, very rude and extremely unhelpful, shes extremely lucky i controlled myself!. Avoid her like the plague if you are unfortunate to have to use this shambles of a store. Why they shut the Cribbs causeway store down i will never understand!.. We had already travelled near 40 minutes to get there, the place looked deserted, and when we first arrived and asked where the shed felt was nobody seemed to know, there was one person on the till until a woman in the queue in front of us went and asked if someone else could serve!. Whilst a few others all just stood around chatting with eachother. I will still be making sure my Dad was definitely charged one transaction and having come to google and seeing multiple reviews of people being charged twice i feel justified in questioning the occurrence!. I will never ever frequent this...

Date of experience: 30 June 2024

Last year we decided to get our bathroom re-done. We were told by Wicks at the start that we would be getting a Wicks Advisor through the process and that they would liaise between us, Wicks and the building company doing the work. We didn’t get ANYONE!! We had to liaise to Wicks and the building company through the whole process ourselves despite asking Wicks multiple times about a Wicks Advisor only to be ignored.

The building company that Wicks supplied were awful with multiple things not being done correctly.

The original sink waste pipe was removed, as it was no longer required. However the hole into the sewage downpipe was not capped but was left open. Raw sewage leaks from this hole and we have had to tape it up as a temporary measure.

The plumbing of the cold water supply developed a serious leak causing extensive damage to the downstairs ceiling and floor, which the builders had to fix.

The toilet fascia panel has not been fastened using the correct fittings (Keku Drop On/Hook On fittings or similar) but instead loosely forced onto screws that have been nailed through the MDF support on the carcass.

Floorboards were badly damaged and not replaced. My father had to fit a replacement himself.

Plinths were not attached correctly but glued to the floor or wall.

The shower wall levels are uneven.

The shower wall joints are visible and unfilled.

The electric shaver point was initially not connected to the electrical circuit and the electrician had to be recalled and also installed directly above the sink.

A hole was smashed into the outside bathroom wall to accommodate a larger pipe and this was not filled in. My father had to mortar it himself.

Hive box was moved and not refitted correctly.

Original corner shower shelf was fitted but wasn’t advised to maybe change it to a flat shelf to get the full use of it.

Sink unit was damaged while installing it but they still installed it!

Wasn’t properly sealed using sealant - I had to finish it myself.

Old bathroom took weeks for it to be collected.

Builders left their lunch rubbish in our front garden.

The job took ages as materials arrived over a long period and the Wickes' preferred installers were often unavailable. It was extremely difficult to complain. When we did get through, Wickes then say it is not their responsibility as they have made you sign another contract with their preferred installers who are cowboys who do the least quality job possible.

To this day we are still trying to get a few of these...

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE. IT IS TERRIBLE!!! If I could give -1 stars I would, terrible customer service and they don't have a clue what's going on. They got my order wrong since I ordered 6 panel internal doors but they delivered 4 panel internal doors. Spoke to customer service and they arranged pick-up and delivery of the correct doors. They picked up the incorrect doors but did not deliver the correct doors. Spoke to customer service several times and customer service said they have called the store, left emails and no response. In the end I went to the store and I can see why customer service did not get any response and why this store has so many poor reviews. The store could not care about my order at all. Spoke to someone on the shop floor, he tells me to speak to the woman on the fork lift; how I'm I meant to go and speak to someone on a fork lift! In the end he spoke to someone through his headset, whoever he was speaking to didn't even bother coming to speak to me. He said for me to take the doors from the shop floor. I don't have a big enough car, that's the whole reason why I asked for them to be delivered. If I could have taken them from the shop floor, I would not have ordered them in the first place. They then tell me they can deliver it in a weeks time, even though they were meant to deliver it several days ago but they got the order wrong! In the end, I asked them to give me a refund as they clearly didn't care and were not interested to help me at all! Wickes needs to change management or close this store down as it is terrible! Just see the reviews for your self, they can't even get a 4 star rating on Google reviews and you'd expect they would try their best to get at least 4 stars since B&Q which is next to them has more reviews and has a 4 star rating. This just tells you the difference of customer service between Wickes and B&Q. I have filed a complaint and if Wickes wants to look into this which I hope they do and take this seriously, here is my order...
