Not really sure where to start... we came here for the first time to celebrate our anniversary, we are not from hastings so wasn't sure if this was a good place or not but we like to try new places and make our own opinion. On arrival we were told to sit anywhere, the place wasn't busy at all, whilst eating our starters, a customer at another table had got up and started yelling at the staff saying he had found broken glass in his hummus, the staff just told his to shh and be quiet,, they offered him more food. He declined,, they bought over a whole hot platter for him and his guess and they refused the food. And stated they were finishing drinks and leaving. Our main course came, very dry meat, rice was hard, red cabbage tasted off and very malt vinegary, and red onion thinly sliced with corriander, disgusting. No very Turkish.. The only bit of food we enjoyed was the pitta bread. When we wanted to pay our bill, all 3 waitresses were sitting down together at a table eating all the food, the couple had left after finding glass in they're food.. my partner had to call them over twice, once for the bill, then to pay the bill.. they had no customer service skills about them at all.. the food was not Turkish in anyway I've ever experienced . Please do not waste your time or money trying...
Read moreBest Calamari in Hastings!! U heard it here first. Honestly this restaurant is like finding a diamond in the rough, completely unexpected experience, as from the outside the restaurant doesn’t really scream at you, but what the exterior doesn’t say, the food makes up for it tenfold. Absolutely delicious mixed hot starter, especially the Calamari. The main mixed platter, lamb chops most definitely stood out and were just as juicy as the chicken Shish 10/10 for both. This is the kind of place you don’t really come across everyday when you’re by the seaside but WOW! Such a pleasure to dine here tonight and would recommend to anyone looking for an alternative to the average fish and chips littered up and down the high street. Very pleasant staff, food staggered out gracefully to allow courses to settle inbetween, filtered tap water (worth a mention as some people are very funny about tap water and spend unnecessarily on bottled), all round great prices, great service, great place to dine in. Definitely worth recommending to anyone with a sense of taste and likes good food. The only downside to the experience is I didn’t have enough space to fit it all my belly in one sitting, of course taken the rest home to indulge once again later...
Read moreAnother day another random seaside town. This time Hastings and we dared to try a Turkish grill and meze joint. And all said and done a pleasant experience it was too.
All bar our server who was utterly disinterested and preferred to obsess over his mobile phone. There were only 3 groups dining on a Wednesday lunchtime. This guy had no time for any of us.
A shame really because the man behind the grill knew what he was doing!! We started with a meze on the house. A mash up of aubergine garlic and melted cheese. On paper not the most enticing of starters but IRL a yummy appetiser to tantalise the tastebuds. Little one had nuggets and chips. I’m pretty sure the nuggets were made au naturel and by God they were delicious (yes Daddy nicked one whilst the munchkin was looking elsewhere).
The chicken and lamb shish were tender and spicy and supplanted you back to Istanbul. Beautifully flavoured rice. Excellent hummus. All in all authentic tastes and reasonable price point.
The bathroom was shabby as was the decor but the food shone through.
Would I come here again? Yes Should you try this...
