If i could give this place 0 star I would, Where do I start, The bar staff took the order and we repeated the order, she read it back and we agreed. We sat at out table and the food took a long time to be served which is not the main complaint. The meals were served apart from one, When we went to the bar to complain they read back the order which was incorrect and stated we had ordered only 4 meals for 5 people! No apology no nothing, the staff literally were so eager to charge for another meal I refused and walked back to the table. An elderly woman came over to the table which I could only assume as the owner to clear the table, To which I said you should have repremanded or fired your staff granted I'd been drinking so shouldnt have spoken out of turn but she replied how dare you speak to me like that, She Dropped a utensil on my leg purposefully and then went on to say I would have done more to you. I thought this was rather unprofessional. Please heed my advice there are much much better pibs around...
Read moreVisited on a Wednesday evening during Eat Out to help out. Requested a certain area to sit in when booking,,but was shown to another area/table although the area/ table requested was empty and remained empty all evening. Had eaten the previous week when the pub had just opened, the attention to social distancing was being adhered to and food was lovely. However I could not say the same for this visit. The fish and chips were no where near the standard expected, clearly not cooked in hot, hot fat as the square fish had no bubbly batter or crisp. And when the second one arrived identical plate of food. The pasta was luke warm and had what looked like cold grated red cheddar sprinkled on top. Not a good look. The Fox MUST do better to keep its regular diners through these uncertain times. Maybe some have already left as there was only 5 tables in what should have been "a fully booked...
Read moreWent there on steak night. Ordered sirloin steaks for my wife and I. These were disappointing, being rather chewy and about half of it waste. To be fair at the start the waitress offered to exchange it, but as my wife's was the same I thought it might be a pointless excercise and delay the meal and I persevered, hoping the rest of it would be better. I also thought that there weren't enough chips either. At the end, having mentioned the problem, we were offered complimentary desserts. My wifes sticky toffee pud she enjoyed. I had the waffles. Looked good on the menu but came with squirty cream which soon melted to nothing, leaving a dry, hard to swallow waffle with not enough compote or fruit (or cream) to help. Had to wash it down with frequent drinks of water.
On the top side: excellent attentive service by ALL staff, nice atmosphere, excellent bottle of...
