it's around that time of year where students and their families will be viewing student accomodation, so i thought i'd provide a real recollection of my experiences with the sky plaza over the past year so that you don't make the same dire mistake as i did.
since moving in, my window latch has been fully broken. this has meant that i haven't been able to close my whole window for almost my entire tenancy, which you would imagine would make my room extremely cold during the winter. i had to resort to gaffer taping the window as closed as i could get it. the issue was brought up in september and took until the 15th of december after repeated maintenance reports and emails before it was "fixed" (they nailed the window shut).
our extractor fan has been broken since moving in and hasn't been replaced after countless maintenance reports, making it extremely difficult to cook anything without smoking out the entire kitchen and corridor.
the hot and cold water cuts out very frequently
the lifts are constantly out of order (there are 15+ floors in my block)
construction that was not made apparent before signing the tenancy has been incredibly disruptive since moving in. drilling on the outside of the building commences early in the morning making decent sleep more of an impossibility
the wifi cuts out at least once a day
the mattresses feel as if they haven't been replaced since the building was constructed (also reported multiple times)
the laundry machines are extremely expensive to use long term and more often than not the washer doesn't wash properly and the dryer doesn't dry properly.
there are rats in the courtyard
there are silverfish everywhere
maintenance reports and complaints are fired into the void
the staff are rarely anywhere to be found
living here really has been a massive stain on my otherwise extremely positive experience in leeds. if i could go back in time and choose to live literally anywhere else in the city, i would do that in a heartbeat. i would implore you not to make the same mistake as i did and take your business someplace else. the plaza/sky plaza is a disgrace and unite students deserves to be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy experience at The Plaza has been nothing short of unsatisfactory and has left me deeply disheartened. My initial complaint about the missing chair and the consistent issue with the lack of cold water but only hot water in the shower fell on deaf ears. Promised resolutions were repeatedly extended, leaving me in a state of increasing frustration.
To compound my disappointment, the shower issue remained unresolved for a whole week, forcing me to rely on the generosity of my flatmate and a friend who graciously lent me their chair and even their shower room. The absence of any alternative or contingency plans from United Students during this time of inconvenience was profoundly frustrating, resulting in nearly a week of discomfort and the inability to shower comfortably. This level of neglect and inconvenience is entirely unacceptable for a student accommodation facility.
Adding to my discontent, the maintenance response time at this facility is extremely slow. The slow response to my initial concerns, including the shower issue, was disappointing. So when my shower head became blocked again yesterday night in the middle of my shower no water came out at all, I was totally desperate about it. Surprisingly, this time, the maintenance team responded promptly and fixed the problem the next day. While it's reassuring to see they finally can act swiftly somehow, it doesn't make up for the inconsistency in their service quality throughout my stay and it should be fixed before u rent a property out to customers. Frequent occurrences of these issues during my rental period are inexcusable.
In summary, my experience at The Plaza has been characterized by an unacceptable level of inconsistency, prolonged inconveniences, and a lack of proactive solutions to resident concerns. I deeply regret my choice to stay here and strongly urge the management to improve their responsiveness and the overall living conditions or at least provide some backup and alternative plan or compensate when...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSTAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE: there are cheaper and better alternatives in the area. For the insane price tag I am paying to stay here (over 160Ā£/week) the service I have received is terrible.
