Stick or Twist JD Wetherspoon Leeds Arena Quarter — Restaurant in Leeds

Exactly what you expect — and that’s the point.

Stick & Twist is a large Wetherspoons built into the bottom of a student tower block, opposite the Merrion Centre and right next to Leeds Arena. That probably tells you everything you need to know: students, Wetherspoons, arena crowds, shopping centre bustle.

It’s busy all the time, yet somehow you can always get in. The service is lightning fast, and honestly, I’d recommend using the online ordering — not sure why anyone still queues at the bar when it works this well.

There’s a mix of standing tables, booths, standard tables, and a big outdoor area — it’s a very spacious pub. It’s cheap (as Wetherspoons always is), and despite eating at plenty of very expensive restaurants, I’ve never sent food back here. They’re impressively consistent — you get exactly what you order and what you pay for.

Had a really pleasant leaving do here yesterday — it was absolutely packed, but no drink order took more than 10 minutes. Pretty impressive.

Oh one point- maybe take off the silly notice about hot chocolate on the machine- you know that no one is going to pay any attention to that!

My colleagues and I popped in at Stick or Twist during lunch time for a meal and it was really nice. Inside was bright and spacious with plenty areas for small or large groups to sit comfortably to enjoy their meal. The staff were very friendly and some were observed deligently cleaning areas used by patrons who had just left so I was most comfortable at the facilities knowing that all precautions were taken to keep us safe in these times. My colleagues with the app ordered their food and drinks and it was brought very quickly. I had to wondered over to the bar to place my order but that too was easily done and my food too was brought quickly. Thanks to the bars staff for allowing me to adjust my order slightly from the set menu as I didn't eat one of the items within my menu order. It was done with no fuss. I will be popping in often when I am in the office as it is so close and service is quick so that I didn't have to extended my lunch period to enjoy a lively meal. Do drop in and enjoy these...

FOH bar staff Staff very welcoming & friendly. Ordered 6oz Amcheese & Katsu Curry, burger arrived without cheese so asked for missing cheese, plate taken & returned with only 1 slice added. Try to speak to staff that returned with plate & they just ignored as if they did not understand English or was just plain deaf. They paid no attention & walked away If I am correct 1 slice on 3oz & 2 slices on 6oz. Katsu arrived with approx. 1 whole sliced chilli scattered on top. Luckily customer didn't mind the load of chilli

s. Chips on burger portion more like a 3oz serving & almost cold. Could tell they were cooked previously & kept under a light they could have re-dunked them. Also pub was not busy so no excuse for kitchen staff, seemed to spend more time talking to floor staff. If I was a secret diner from head office BOH would not be amused.
