Where should I start from? It was my Wife's birthday, I called and reserved. When we arrived the manager was sitting right in front of the door and asked us to sit inside. We waited for 20 mins and no one came to ask for the order, atleast as a basic service should have come and asked for water. I had to call one of the waitress and she behaved as if she's the owner (her attitude) and she didn't even bother to come to our table. The manager then came and said "oh i am sorry I was supposed to come and take the order. We were like seriously? We then ordered Butter Chicken and after waiting for more than 30 mins AGAIN, we got the most PATHETIC butter chicken. We are Indians from Mumbai so we very well know how butter chicken is. In the past 12 years have tried it at many restaurants in England, Wales and Scotland as well. But this was the most pathetic butter chicken. It was not even butter chicken. They just put chicken pieces and a gravy on top that's it. Check the pictures. We also ordered Garlic Chilly in which we hardly found any Garlic and it was not spicy at all even after asking them to make it spicy. The most funniest part was, we ordered Kulcha Naan and the lady bought us Cheese Naan. We said we never ordered this. She asked what did you order then and we said we ordered Kulcha. She said yes this is Kulcha Naan and just walked off. The service here was the most unprofessional service we witnessed ever. We travelled all the way from Leyburn to Leeds and were disappointed with this place and the food and their service. Will never visit again and will highly recommended everyone to stay away from this place. If you wanna ruin your evening and waste time and have pathetic food then do visit.

This is the best curry house I’ve been to in the UK by a long way. Staff & the owner are attentive enough without being overbearing. The amount of meat in the curries was very generous, especially for the price. Ordered 1. Chicken Achari - our favourite dish which had lots of the pickle spice & sourness you want from this. Breast pieces were juicy & tender. Must try in my opinion. 2. Handi Gosht- a less wet curry in a very thick & rich tomato based gravy. Even more meat than the chicken dish above & lamb was fall apart tender. Nice amount of heat to the dish too. 3. Shabji Chameli- vegetarian curry with eggplant, okra & cauliflower with a tomato based gravy & cooked with Indian pickles. Really nice overall balance to the dish & a lot of vegetables. 4. Garlic Pilau- loaded with garlic which added to the other dishes, just as I like it. 5. Chapati- good charring on the bread but soft & not bitter at all. If you are in Leeds, it is worth eating here. If I was there any longer I’d be going back again to try some of the other dishes including the Mach Naga.

Myself and my partner booked a table at Bengal for 7pm on Friday night and we had one of the best dine in experiences ever. The staff were welcoming, friendly and extremely professional from the minute we entered the restaurant doors. We were seated instantly and checked on frequently until we were satisfied with our main course. The bill was more than reasonable considering we were well fed and had some alcoholic beverages. All staff, from waitress / waiter to chefs enjoy more than the tip we and I’m sure everyone else left due to the excellent experience we endured. Myself and my partner have never been so impressed with all aspects a restaurant has to offer in a long time. Thank you Bengal for providing a memorable experience in your restaurant. We will definitely be back next time we visit Leeds.

Very poor experience. We had a booking for a group of 4 this evening - we arrived on time for our reservation and had to sit and wait on the sofas before our table was ready. No bother, the 3 of our group that arrived first were served a drink and happy to wait with the 4th arriving shortly afterwards received no service during the wait. We were eventually herded to our table very chaotically - it was as if the host had no time to seat us whatsoever. The restaurant was busy with there being an arena event on however it wasn’t a very good start to the evening - I would also hope they’re used to the rushes the arena brings considering the restaurant has been there for some years.

When seated we had to wait 20-30 minutes for someone to take our order - again the guest without a drink had still not been attended to. We had poppadoms while we waited for our food orders to be taken which was probably the most efficient part of our whole experience. We waited around an hour for a porter to ask us if we had enjoyed our meal - we had not eaten anything yet and asked when we could expect our starters as we had ordered them around an hour ago. He seemed panicked and rushed to the kitchen - not to return or for any staff to indicate when we could expect our meal. At this point, we were discussing at what point we should leave if we still haven’t received any food. Food eventually arrived on a trolley to our table, for it to be full of our main courses and our starters completely forgotten about. The wait staff were discussing between themselves what to do and completely forgot that we were paying guests waiting for food. We asked to keep our mains and remove the starters from the bill - at this point we were very hungry and wanted to leave.

When our curries arrived, they were bland, cold and very underwhelming. No one came to check how our meal was for us to tell them but our starters were delivered shortly afterwards for them to also be very bland and the battered dishes soggy.

As if the above wasn’t enough, we asked multiple times for the bill and then multiple times for the card reader so that we could then pay. Eventually, we asked if we should go to the bar to pay for someone to say no they will bring the card reader to us and then the host to change their mind and blame the internet being rubbish because the arena was on and that’s why they have the door open to help the internet. We would have happily got up to pay in the first instance had we known they were struggling with their card reader, we did not wish to stay there anymore as we had received bad to no service whatsoever.

The whole experience here was poorly communicated. The staff were not trained properly to deal with any communication with guests whatsoever. It took 3 staff to take even a drinks order.

To make matters worse, 2 staff then came to clear the table of all the excess items like leftover cutlery and place mats - the way they did it was very rude as they acted like we were in the way of them clearing our table and doing their job and clearly just wanted us to leave, which might I reiterate we wanted to as we were waiting for pay for our bland meal and they did not even know we were unhappy at that point as no one had given us the opportunity to complain. When going to pay, the host apologised for the starter mishap where I told him it the whole experience and the food was poor.

Having worked in hospitality for almost 10 years, I strongly disagree with leaving bad reviews without speaking to the management in house, however after giving the host feedback on our meal, he did not care at all. He gave us a halfhearted sorry - we could tell he was not sorry nor passionate about the service and we will not be returning again. I have received better service...

We came her on a Friday evening for my mum's birthday and had high expectations after reading the reviews . Unfortunately our waiter was very rude and never spoke once or replied to us at all. Certainly no please or thank you. We had only just sat down and two people asked for our order I said can we just have two minutes to look at the menu please. Two seconds later a lady wanted our order. We asked if we could order our starters first then the main but she said no you can't as we are busy. She was stood over us we have never felt so rushed and picked without properly looking at the menu. The starters came very quickly. The garlic King prawns and the masala white fish were tasty enough. The onion bhajis were very poor. Three crispy bits of fried onion with very little substance and and very bland. I went to the toilet and came back to finish my starter and the main had already arrived !! My mother was eating hers and the waiter took her plate off her so she took it back and said excuse me im still eating that! He passed my main meal whilst I was eating my starter and I had no space to put it anywhere so I thought oh forget my starter then and I picked it up and he snatched it from me. We certainly could not relax and enjoy any of it. I ordered lamb chops laziz it was a generous portion and beautiful sauce but but the lamb was very dry and completely tasteless. The lamb korma sauce was excellent but there was little meat in it. The connoisseur mixed cocktail was average, the two prawns were OK, the chicken was nice but the lamb was completely tasteless. The garlic and coriander naan was tasteless ! We've had far better from the supermarket. Nobody ever asked if the meal was OK until the bill came . Beware the prices are quite a bit higher than stated on their website! We had two pints of kingfisher and one bottle of cobra . the cobra is £5.25 online but £6.95 in the restaurant . The bill was £88 Overall a very disappointing experience and we...
