At street level the station gives the impression of a well kept historical building. The entrance and ticket hall are step free and the area through the ticket barriers is lit from above by natural light.
That unfortunately is where the good news ends, because the rest of the station is not user friendly.
The District and Circle line platforms are only accessible via long staircases. The Piccadilly line is accessible via lifts, but from the bottom landing to the platforms is by about 20 steps down.
If your hotel is nearby, lugging suitcases around here is a pain.
Never interchange here between the Piccadilly line and the District and Circle lines except if one or other is completely suspended. There are plenty of better places to interchange.
Never come here with a wheelchair, or if you have mobility difficulties. Only bring a buggy or pram or suitcases if you are fit and healthy and enjoy the exercise.
As with nearby South Kensington, this station really needs money spent on it by Tfl, to make it a lot more accessible for everyone.
