Second stay at this property and in the year since I last stayed, it seems like competence has depleted. Two of us staying in a Double with Balcony for 6 nights to celebrate a friend's birthday (friend was staying in their own double room). The double with balcony is TIGHT for a couple, especially unpacked. For longer stays, look elsewhere, storage will be a problem. The Pros: Patio was nice and spacious! Wish we got to use it more often but a bit chilly in March, unfortunately. Location, location, location... proximity to the Gloucester Road Tube, grocery, restaurants, pubs, pharmacy... all stumbling distance away!). The bed was comfortable for us. Housekeeping did great job, daily, keeping the room tidy. Good water pressure. Air conditioning kept the room cool! The negatives: The first thing that I immediately will notice is how staff will make a person FEEL. This is what guests will remember the most. And should be included in the training of staff in any hospitality position. I am also noticing in reviews of other guests on other platforms, the attitude of staff towards guests was noted. Immediately started off on the wrong foot the day of check-in, when we arrived about an hour before the posted check-in time. I inquired if our room was ready and the woman checking me in said, "well, check-in time is not until 3pm." Okay, fair, but instead of that response, how has this woman not been trained to respond, "Sorry, your room is not quite ready yet, but we would be happy to hold your luggage and notify you the moment that it is ready!" Hospitality 101. Several mornings, no greeting from staff in the lobby. The staff seemed perplexed that we requested ice on a daily basis (no in room ice buckets nor refrigerators so had to purchase ziplock baggies) to keep drinks/ waters cold. Even a one star property should have ice available. By night 3, a staff member notified us the ice maker was broken and there was none available. Question: In a property where breakfast is served daily, how is there no ice to keep food items/ beverages cold? The next evening, I asked another staff member if the ice maker had been fixed and she looked at me as if I were speaking another language and said there was no problem with the ice maker. How confusing of an experience for me! No facial tissues in the bathroom. The door between the bedroom and bathroom entrance would slam shut, no soft close so we needed to stuff a shoe in the door jam so it wouldn't wake the other person in the middle of the night. Bathrooms were dated and had dirty/ tarnished fixtures. Cracked sink. Bathroom mirror was built for someone 5'6". Clearly it was a replacement mirror because the previous mirror markings/ mountings were still on the wall. Sliding shower door would not stay shut so had to stuff a towel in the doorway on the floor to keep the door from opening and getting the bathroom floor soaked. I didn't bring these details to the attention of the staff because I found them unapproachable on day one. If the staff is going to give me a hard time about ice, how are they going to react to having to solve an ACTUAL problem? The love is in the details, and when you are traveling, it is all details... which goes unnoticed by the staff at this location. Should send the lobby a copy of Emily Post's "Etiquette," in care of the manager, who held his daily morning meeting in the lobby at 10:30am. Who holds a daily management meeting in front of guests??? Will be staying at another property at Gloucester Road next visit.

The room with a balcony was very comfortable. I especially enjoyed relaxing with a cup of coffee while watching the large tree and the squirrels just outside — it was a peaceful and calming experience. The breakfast staff were cheerful and kind, and the food was delicious. Since the room was on the first floor, it was easy to use the stairs when returning from outside, which made things quite convenient. On the other hand, I did encounter a few moments of confusion at the front desk. At check-in, there was no explanation about breakfast, and on the first morning, my name was not on the breakfast list, which almost led to being charged at the venue. While not all staff were like this, some interactions felt rather formal and distant, with little to no greeting unless I initiated the conversation. I wondered if my experience might have been influenced in some way by the fact that I’m Asian, although I can’t say for certain. That said, there were also staff members who left a positive impression, so it wasn’t a consistent issue. The price was higher than usual due to dynamic pricing, but considering it was the busy summer season and there were events going on at Hyde Park, I understand that this was somewhat expected. All in all, the stay was pleasant. I appreciated the quiet atmosphere — I rarely crossed paths with other guests, and the overall sense of privacy made the experience feel restful and comfortable.

First off, at the entrance to the hotel there are 3 pretty high steps and no railing. I'm a young-ish and pretty fit woman and I fell up those stairs twice! I can't for the life of me understand why there's no railing there, especially since people are coming with heavy luggage and need some support. I first got room 301 facing the main road and it was a nightmare. There's a huge window in the bathroom overlooking the very crowded street, who on earth thought that'd be desirable??? (There are blinds that black out the room). But the main issue is that it was impossibly loud, the traffic noise was incessant and so loud. Plus you could hear people constantly closing doors from the other rooms. I went downstairs after a couple of hours of trying to nap (in vein), and I just knew I wouldn't last the night. Luckily, the lady at the front desk showed me the only available room, which was an accessible room, but was bigger and so quiet, so I prefered it despite the uncomfortable shower and strange position of the TV (not facing the bed, but to the side). The main issues I encountered in that room were that it's way too dark, there's really only light in one side of it, and the terrible shower pressure and temperature - I had to turn on the water 5 minutes before wanting to shower because the water took forever to heat up. The location was perfect, but unfortunately I wouldn't stay again.

This is a belated review but a wholehearted one. I stayed at this hotel March this year, the main reason was for its location and relatively competitive price. |The hotel is 3 min walk from Gloucester Road Underground Station, easy to get to the West End and other areas of London. (Take Piccadilly Line from LHR can easily get you there. Getting off at Earl's Court instead of Gloucester Road if you have heavy luggages. ) There is a Tesco, a Pret and a Waitrose just around the corner, plus many fast food chains and decent restaurants. Walking distance to V&A, Royal Albert Hall and Kensington Palace. |I stayed there for 9 nights and I wrote to the front desk in advance kindly asking for a room in higher floor, they didn't guarantee anything but upon my arrival I got a room at the 5th floor facing the inner garden instead of the street, the staff are all very friendly and happy to help!! |The room I booked is a double room, frankly speaking it would be too cosy for two people to squeeze in but I am a solo traveler with just one suitcase so I managed to settle my things without any hassle. There is a lift at the lobby. My room was clean and quiet, during my stay there I got very good sleep, the bed was soft and comfortable. Water temperature and pressure in the bathroom is acceptable given the building is quite old. Air-con in the room but I prefer opening the window to get fresh air. They offer rooms with balcony too. I tried the hotel breakfast, it was western style, nice but not luxurious, the breakfast lady was very kind. There is no room service, but the lobby bar is super chill and spacious, you can sit there have a beer or a glass of wine from the bar after a whole day's sight-seeing and relax a bit. |The style of the hotel is "London Underground" so from the lobby to the corridor to the rooms you can see London Underground elements everywhere (Underground map on the carpet and the loo is marked as "WaterLoo"). |This is certainly not a luxury hotel but a stylish one, I would definitely come back next time I am...

Hi, I am a platinum member at the Accor Hotels Group. This time I did choose Ibis Style at Gloucester Road for 1 week holiday with my family (4 pax) as I know the location is excellent and has best subway connections. My feedback here is not (!) about the location, the room size or the breakfast (all good as expected, no complaints), however I meed to express some feedback here what I usually don‘t. During check-in (timely) around 3pm we as a family with 2 kids were told by the person we can get double 2 rooms next to each other. But only one room is ready. We can leave luggage in one of the rooms. So far so good, we are experienced and manage such situations easily without complaining. We did transport our big luggage to the 3rd floor to thd available room and went to the city. When coming back at 9pm, we were told the other room is not available and the 2nd room is on ground level. Large discussion…complaints… reception colleagues from the afternoon no more available, …manager not available, even next day… finally no alternative, ….many frustration… so we had to retransport half of the luggage back to ground on our own despite earlier promises from a receptionist. I do not talk here about status room upgrades, early check-in offer or similar what is common in other hotels for ACCOR group in other regions of the world. Why? Because that is not the reason of my post.

After a few days in the hotel (stay is okay - family splitted in different floors), in one of the 2 rooms, room service was not done. This is a „no go“ in any hotel of the Accor Hotels Group… Complaint again at reception, new towels…manually handed over… excuses…. usual story . This feedback is for other potential guests to set ertaib expectations what may happen, I do not believe that the hotel management reviews such feedbacks. P.S. Very Positive: really nice breakfast room and very polite...
