it was my worst experience so far. i was humiliated and the way the red hair lady at counter spoke to me and my friend was humiliating . i booked a 2 hour session on the 10/08/2023 from 15:00-17;00 for my birthday cause i went on go boat (canary warf) last year on my birthday and it was so fun and good memory, that we decided to do it again but this time in paddington for 2 hours . we were so excited but unfortunately we were late by 1 Hour Because there was a severe delay in Elizabeth line you can even check the tfl services for proof ,but 2 people from our group was at the counter on time cause they came from Bournemouth and they asked one of your collegue if we can post-pone the time but they said all the slots were booked and we cant post-pone (fair-enough ) but they kept the boat and said as long as we take the boat and come back on the designated time it should be ok . , so we came at at 4pm sharp at the counter and although we were late by 1 hr ( our fault) ,we were looking foward to spending 55mins on the boat considering 5 mins for the briefing .but the the collegue at the counter didnt let us board .they first said we cant board ,then by the time 15mins has gone talking , they said 45 mins is too late for us to enjoy ,we barely wouldnt cross the bridge , but we were ready to go even for a 45 mins cause i have 8 of my friends who were really looking forward to celebrating my birthday ,we even said that we are happy with 45 mins as we just want to cut the birthday cake and take some pictures with the friends but they refuse . i have paid for every thing in advance ,i wasnt looking for a refund but just want to enjoy whats left of the time on the boat .the red hair lady looked annoyed even before i spoke ,she was adamant not to let us board , there was a couple next to us who she was speaking to when she made a remark to us and said to the couple ( THANK YOU FOR COMING ON TIME UNLIKE OTHER PEOPLE ) " INFRONT OF ALL MY FRIENDS . i was literally so shocked and really angry . the other guy at the counter was willing to listen even tho he wasnt gonna let us board .he later gave us a coupon of 40 pounds . which i took and went straight to book an alternative boat at canary warf online .and i paid an extra 65 pounds which im not complaining , cause we did manage to make up for it and and the people there at canary warf was really polite . but we were really sad cause we love boating but we would never go boating again at paddington despite the...

Yesterday I was invited for a boat trip along Regents Canal courtesy of Love Popups London and GoBoat with refreshments provided by Fentimans.

GoBoat is the only self-drive boating experience in London, with their 8-seater boats powered by electric engines they provide a unique social experience, and best of all, it’s very safe and there’s no previous boating experience required.

We had our boat for two hours and decided to take the route up to Camden Lock, where we turned around to head back to the GoBoat dock at Merchant’s Square close to Paddington and Edgware Road.

Once you gather on your boat, you get a short introduction and are handed a map that charts the different routes and points of interest along the way as well as an estimate of how much time it takes to get there and back. The staff are very friendly and competent.

The route is very scenic, you get to drive through a few residential canals with lots of house boats moored on both sides, steer through London Zoo where you can see the African Hunting Dogs and the aviary, and all the way up to the Camden Lock basin, which is a dead end.

From there we returned back, taking in the beautiful canalside views and chatting to people walking along the sides. It was a beautiful trip and we all massively enjoyed it.

We were lucky enough to have a beautiful Saturday morning of delicious refreshments and a fun boating adventure. If you’ve ever wanted to captain your own boat, are looking for a fun and romantic date experience, want to show visiting friends or family the beauty of London, or just have a picnic on the canals with your friends, GoBoat is absolutely for you! And all of that at an...

Very shady and unroadworthy company.

Booked a 1Hour slot on one of the boats, mistakenly (my fault) via Thames Ditton when I’d meant to select Paddington, I’d also paid for a captains hat in my order. Little did I know, they do not offer refunds so I’d cancelled and been sent a ‘voucher’. The voucher received was incorrect and did not work when I’d attempted to redeem it all of 10 minutes later.

After explaining the situation I managed to make an amended booking over the phone using a voucher however this time it was booked minus the additional extras and somehow I was offered no refund on the difference.

Later that week I was notified that my trip was forcibly cancelled due to weather conditions (understandable). Again, when I requested a refund because the event was for a specific event on a specific date, they’ve outright refused to provide me with a refund and instead offered another voucher. It’s been a few days since our last conversation over email and I’m yet to receive any communication or form of reimbursement.

All in all, as it stands I’ve lost the money spent on the additional extras as well as the full amount spent on the booking. I’m now out of pocket for an activity I now have 0 intention of doing.

I feel it’s very poor communication to not have it clearly disclosed that refunds are not an option. Having to dig through FAQ’s just isn’t good enough.

We’ll see if this gets resolved, watch this space.

UPDATE: The manager has reached out to me to apologise for the ‘miscommunication’ and we’ve settled the matter...

The whole experience of driving the boat was new to me and I was glad there was staff present to help. We did have technical difficulties with the boat but they were quick to answer and come rescue us it’s something I would definitely recommend doing during summer. Bring snacks and drinks with some good music and just enjoy the ride

Great experience, out of the ordinary and a brilliant way to see London from a different perspective. Staff were really friendly and helpful, ten out of ten. Couple of slight niggles; the boats themselves are just too slow. Pedestrians gently strolling on towpaths left us for dust!! Would be able to see a lot more of the canal if they turned up the power just a bit. This was particularly problematic in the tunnel where the faster canal boats bear down on you from behind with intimidating bright lights and noisy engines. Then they'll sound their horns multiple times. There's nowhere no move anywhere to allow them to overtake and you can't make the boat go any faster!! Other niggle was the filthy canal. Full of rubbish, absolutely everywhere!! Plastic bags and other waste repeatedly got caught in the propeller so we were forever having to stop to pick it off with the boathook. Surely there's some sort of regulator who inspects rivers? This one was utterly disgusting. Aside from those points, we had a great time. Passing through London Zoo was very cool, the Chinese Restaurant made for some great photos and the tunnel was awesome, apart from the bully canal boats.
