Third and Final Stay - Disappointing Decline||This was our third and, unfortunately, final visit to this hotel, which we’ve stayed at over the years. While it used to be an average, decent place, it has sadly declined to a level that is now quite terrible.|The hotel’s location is ideal for getting around London, with Paddington Station just a three-minute walk away. This makes it convenient for airport connections and exploring the city. The surrounding area is packed with restaurants ranging from high-end establishments to McDonald’s and KFC, as well as coffee shops, breakfast spots, and a nice pub. It has always served as a good base for us, but unfortunately, this time will be our last For $650 over four nights, we expected at least basic service. However, our room was only serviced once, and even then, no body wash, tea, or coffee replacements were provided. The level of care and maintenance has drastically fallen.|| • Noise: The noise from the underground is now quite disturbing at night. Apparently, a new tunnel has been constructed closer to the hotel, and you can feel the rumbling beneath you.| • Maintenance Issues: Maintenance appears to be neglected. The taps in the shower stick, making it hard to open or close them properly. The type of door sticks quite badly, The TV had a loose connection, which caused it to flicker on and off unless we shook the wire, so we eventually unplugged it for safety.| • Inconsistent Water Temperature: The temperature of the shower water changed unpredictably whenever someone in a nearby room turned theirs on.| • Power Outlet Problems: There were no power sockets near the bed, which is an issue for me as I need my CPAP machine to sleep. I had to move the bed across the room to reach an outlet. When I asked the reception if they had an extension cord, I was told, “No, go buy one.”| • Bins: All The bins in the room were not emptied each day during our stay.| • Water Leak: There was a significant water leak stain in the ceiling, which added to the dishevelled look. The mattress quality was poor, as both my partner and I woke up with back pain every night. In fact, my partner had to sleep sitting up due to the discomfort.I don’t expect much from a budget hotel, but I do expect minimal service. Unfortunately, this hotel failed to deliver even that. We mainly use hotels as a place to sleep while spending our days exploring the city, but when the sleep is uncomfortable and basic amenities like a shower aren’t properly provided, it’s hard to overlook On a positive note, the staff were pleasant. Special mention to Sod (apologies if that’s spelled wrong), who was kind and helpful, even providing some of the items we were missing from the room. However, it shouldn’t be necessary to ask for these basics every day. It’s sad to say goodbye to a hotel with such a great location, but the level of service and comfort has deteriorated so much that we’ll be looking for a different place to stay next time. The list of issues is longer than this, but frankly, it’s not worth the time to go into further detail. Do yourself a...

Read moreHotel was "ok" as for cleanliness and location. However.... BE AWARE! All over TripAdvisor the write "Free Breakfast". This is not the case. Breakfast is paid only. Even when confronted with screenshot from purchasing they denied. Photos attached to prove my point. Also hotels.com claim to be in their right as they "never sell this hotel with brekfast". However when logging in it says otherwise. ||Well... on with it. We bought food elsewhere.||Further : reception is 24 hours. Staff is not "unfriendly" but not really enthusiastic either. However nightstaff when our boy got sick at night did provide new linens quite immediately. Very much appreciated.||Room was small, overfurnished (double made into triple, maybe?). We were allowed early check-in but they made sure to tell us we were extremely lucky and "owed them one". ||Entire hotel has an aura of authenticity over it. Narrow, bendy stairs going hither and dither. Dark, soft carpets and a bit "mouldy" in the hallway.||As for the room. Despite being small it seemed quite recently refurbished. Bathroom was TINY but with tiles and quite modern. The fan made a bit of a noise and had close to zero effect... but it was there.||I mentioned cleanliness... Well.. all in all "ok". However under the bed and in the table top fan there were loads of dust.||No aircon... really warm and humid as sun was dead on the window all day from morning till evening. We used the fan despite the dust... becourse we had to. The area was quite noisy but we knew this and could survive this. Not too bad.||Room was made up every day but linen was never changed unless we did it ourself (after requesting new). Towels on the floor were taken but only replaced every now and then.||Had it not been for the disastrous behaviour when pointing to the discrepancy between free breakfast promised and paid breakfast upon arriving.. this would have been sort of acceptable for a short stay. But they handled it really bad, blaming us for being in the wrong and "ghosting us" when showed proof. In an email after returning home they claimed we should have let them now and they would comp the breakfast.. However we did let them now. Several times to different people. This made our stay less enjoyable and all the other "quirks" less easy...
