Paddington station is MASSIVE! But, its not hard to navigate. It was very clean and organised with lots of staff and information points. the overall station layout was not too confusing and the Paddington bear was a nice find (although it did take a bit of a hunt). I definitely recommend changing at Paddington if you have the option over other stations such as kings cross, especially as some of these other stations are very confusing and disorganised. This so far was just the GWR/overground sections of the station. The underground sections of this station are very modern for the most part due to the elizebeth line just being so new. This makes for a speedy, easy and safe transfer from a GWR service to an elizebeth line one. This is defiantly the best station to change at. One big thing when getting onto the circle line however is making sure you get onto the correct one. There are two separate ones going different ways making for a highly confusing transfer. This made our journey a bit more hectic but with the next to no wait time for another train to come by we didn't have to wait long. Overall i rate this station very well and hope your travels...
Read morePaddington Station is one of those places that’s busy, a bit chaotic at times, but still full of character. I used the Tube from there a few times during my London trip, and it always felt like I was passing through a piece of the city’s history. The signage is clear, the platforms are well-organised, and the trains come pretty often, which makes getting around super convenient. Plus, the station connects to loads of important lines—like the Circle, District, Bakerloo, and Hammersmith & City—so it’s a great starting point for exploring the city.
What I really liked about Paddington was the mix of old and new. Some parts of the station still have that classic London Underground charm, with tiled walls and old-style signs, while other areas feel really modern and clean. And of course, you can’t forget the cute Paddington Bear statue just upstairs in the mainline station—that was such a fun little surprise. If you’re staying nearby or catching a train from Heathrow via the Heathrow Express, it’s a super handy station. It might not be the flashiest part of London, but Paddington gets the job done—and gets you where...
Read moreThis is for Paddington Underground (the Elizabeth Line guardians!) On a long day and not knowing the topology of the vast concourse of travel here, 'Nick' responded with humour and helpfulness to my question: "So how do you 'do' Brixton then?" He quickly produced the schematic on his screen and then pointed to the tunnel towards the Bakerloo Line.
I can't believe what I did next! With Nick's guidance ringing in my ears I overshot the correct tunnel completely and oblivious to my stupidity, I kept on going.
Not so shortly after, I got a tap on the shoulder - and it was Nick. He had seen me miss my turning and had come a long way after me to put me on the correct route! How's that for helpfulness and kindness?
So take a bow, Nick (you know who you are!) for going the extra mile to put my hat on straight. I have to say, sadly, that this is unheard of in my universe - it's great to know though, that there are helpful people like Nick around. It had been a long day for me and you got me home in spite of my stupidity! Top...
