I write to you with a heavy heart because I had a dreadful experience with your services this morning.
I’m a new client and today was only my second visit. Before making an appointment, I corresponded with Issy via email and told her I was interested in having a toner treatment with Taylor and a trim with Frankie. I asked how long it would take and what the cost would be. Issy responded, “From 10:15am-11:30am, 145 pounds.” I accepted based on this information and made the appointment.
I arrived, Taylor did my toning and after I was escorted to Frankie's chair in the blow-drying area. Frankie asked what kind of blow-dry I wanted. At first I was confused, I didn't ask for a blow-dry, but gave the benefit of the doubt that this was something Jo Hansford did whenever color treatment (even something like toning) was involved. As a new client to the salon, I figured Frankie knew what she was doing. However, given my many years of experience in salons - I'd never had my hair trimmed while it was dry - I said to Frankie, "Aren't you going to trim my hair?" She looked momentarily confused and responded, "Oh, I didn't realize you wanted that. I'll do a quick dust-off after I dry it." I thought, maybe that's just how Jo Hansford does it.
After, I make my way to the counter and am shown the price for services. To my shock, it was 265 pounds. Over 100 pounds more than I was originally quoted. I told them that. Then I was asked who I spoke with over email, Issy. Issy appeared and I showed her the email where I clearly asked for a tone with Taylor and trim with Frankie and where her response was “145 pounds.” She continued to repeat, “I have no idea why I did that. I have no idea why I did that.” She informed me that she would check with Taylor about the color cost. Issy disappeared, then returned and said she could take 30 pounds off and the total would be 235 pounds. I told her, that was still nearly 100 pounds more than she quoted me. She kept repeating that Frankie’s cut and blow dry was 165 pounds. I said, “But Frankie didn’t even know she was supposed to trim my hair. I had to tell her.” Then she tried to tell me that she was quoting for Frankie’s cut and blow-dry, I told her that I’d never asked for a blow-dry and even if I did then the quoted number should’ve been much higher than 145 pounds.
At that point, it became clear to me that Issy had made a mistake and instead of trying to rectify it and accept that I should pay only what she quoted me. she continued to push her erroneous and if I may, inane reasoning, which made no sense when it was clearly written in black in white in the email. I told her, “I’ll pay but I’m not happy about it.” To which she responded, “Okay.”
I found this handling of the situation and overall customer experience to be abysmal. I chose Jo Hansford because it was reputable salon near my flat in Mayfair. I don’t mind paying extra when it’s worth it - but unfortunately this was not one of those experiences. I had to remind Frankie to cut my hair, sat through a blow-dry I didn’t ask for but was expected to pay for and then had to inform Issy that’d she’d dreadfully misquoted me and expected me to pay for her expensive mistake. I go to salons in order to relax and unwind. Not to be on guard and checking the entire time if people are doing what they...
Read morei had an appointment booked at Jo Hansford salon 15 January 2 weeks in advance, and i was so excited and happy to get my hair done there and couldn't wait. on the day of the appointment i was delayed by traffic for about 20 minutes, and i called ot inform reception and they were totally fine with that. when i arrived to the salon, my first impression was ok ish, but very sort of cold and robot like atmosphere, regardless i thought my hair hopefully would look great and that's why i'm here. i already had a picture and a video of the hair color i was seeking, and discussed it with he colorist assigned to do my hair ( Ashley) Ashley was nice and professional, but the work she did on my hair was nothing like i wanted. i already had an ombre done on my long hair and was quite low by now cause i has it done for a while, all i wanted from Jo Hansford salon was to refresh what i already have and take the blonde strands higher. what i got after 3 hours is the same exact location of the blonde not an inch higher but much lighter color result broken elasticated hair with severe split ends and a visible line anyone could see between the blonde and the dark color. i was so disappointed and my heart started racing, this is not the look i was going for, i would have let my 10 year old niece do that if that's what i was after. i told Ashley my concern and she asked a colleague to take a look at my hair, i showed her colleague the picture of the color i wanted and she agreed that this is not at all what i got and she advised Ashley how to redo the hair i T section to achieve the look and to get rid of the line color difference and blend it all together. after another 3 hours and more bleach in my hair, the result was still exactly the same, with the only difference of ruined hair bleach blonde ends and red brown top. so disappointed and upset is not actually what describes my feelings as i had my hopes so high and got nothing absolutely nothing. and i forget to mentioned that they charged me £280 for that, offering for me to come back IF and i quote ' CANNOT LIVE WITH IT ' 2 days later i had to go and cut 4 inches of my hair because the ends were falling off and ended up with almost no blonde at all. i sent an e mail explaining my disappointment and what happened, 2 days later received a missed call from them, after another e mail received a reply to either call them or provide a number to be reached,. i called them and wish i haven't cause all what they offered is to come back and try fix my hair. i mean fix what???? i already had to cut it, and there's no way i can put any more chemicals on it, so fix what really cause i don't understand, they didn't even offer to reimburse me my hair cut that i had to do somewhere else. so there you go, my nightmare experience with Jo Hansford Salon, finally a word of advice, if you have a very simple roots refresh or trim and can afford £300 for it, Jo Hansford is your Salon, but if you require something a bit more creative please don't waist your money there, its a...
Read moreI was a very happy client for many years at SALON 4 nobody less than Brooke herself was my colourist. After one silly little hick-up I decided not to go back. I booked myself at Jo Hansford with one of their 'senior' colorists as I was confident to go to a great salon to do my colour. After all Jo Hansford business logo is PERFECT COLOUR! The colourist was a lovely lady but a good colorist sadly she is not. I ended up with several different shades of colours on my brown hair and it puzzles me how the hell did she managed to that. The very next day I called in and went to see their manager and the colourist and they agreed and booked me in to correct my colour free of charge. I was disappointed that I had to wait a couple of weeks to fix something looking that terrible. Fast forward two weeks I went back to the salon and was booked in with a lady called Taylor. To my astonishment she claimed I came into the salon with several different colours on my hair already, she was incredible rude and didn't want to fix the mess. I was left in tears. I have never felt so badly treated in any top salons in the whole of London. These days Jo Hansford Salon is only living from good old times. I also would like to mention that the gentleman who did my blow dry, his name was Steve left me deeply upset. I was asking to borrow an iPhone 5 charger which many salons do have for their clients use, he told me in a scary, attacking and intimidating way that 25 iPhone 5 chargers have been stolen recently and 'IF I WOULD TRY TO STEAL HIS HE WOULD BREAK BOTH OF MY HANDS'. I do not need to explain here and now how I felt when I left the salon, needless to say I lost my drive to visit any hair salons in my whole life again. I was left traumatized. And that all at Jo Hansford in the middle of Mayfair. I feel sorry for Miss Jo Hansford as these people are seriously running her business down. I of course went back to my favorite SALON 4 and Brooke was delighted to see me. She was able to fix the traumatizing mess with an incredible speed and soothing care. In the end I did get my refund from Jo Hansford which I was very thankful but here is the thing; its not about the money at all, its about the time I have invested going to the salon three times, enduring the incredible unprofessional treatment that I can honestly say even this one star is way too much. I wish not to write this bad review but I do feel that people need to know and read about my experience and judge for themselves whether to enter this salon or not. I am sure the salon has happy clients certainly I am not one of them. I wish Jo Hansford...
