Marks & Spencer — Local services in London

The customer service in this store is absolutely terrible. Absolutely do not shop in this store there are much better retailers where customer service is second to non. Went in for a refund as item was purchased online, only to find it was then reduced. I decided to keep the item and asked the cashier to refund the difference and that I would keep my garment. She informed me that this was not allowed even though they were selling the garment in the store at discounted price, however did not have the correct size. In theory I could have bought the garment in store (if they had size) and returned one I bought online to get the difference back. They do not have this made up rule in writing anywhere nor is it visible in their T&Cs apparently different stores have different rules and it is discretionary.

This is my favourite Marks for convenience but the staff are excellent, helpful and friendly. Online delivery to here has never been a problem and have no complaints about customer service. Despite not having a large range of items this store is well stocked. Bakery has excellent range of fresh bread and pastries with really helpful staff. I find this store to be a real asset to Hammersmith with good quality items and the staff really make this a good store to go to. I would avoid it at lunch as this is a popular place to grab lunch deals and gets very busy. It is also especially busy after office hours and people picking up food for dinner. Great we have an M&S in Hammersmith. The food ranges on offer can be less varied than in other stores but it's good for freshly baked bread and ready meal staples. Couldn't do without it. The main bugbear is the lack of staff at the tills and cashiers no longer helping with packing bags. Too many self service tills and long queues can be very frustrating at peak times. floor management do react eventually but could be more on the ball when queues are developing. A limited clothes selection also but usually each range has a fair representation of sizes. It's a couple of decades since I bought men's underwear here. Current ranges are multipack and boring.
