WHAT A DIFFERENCE A NEW CHEF CAN HAVE ON EXCELLENT INGREDIENTS!!
I have visited the Hammersmith Ram a while back as a party of 4, around March 2025. The food was amazing. We all thoroughly enjoyed every morsal of our food. Ambience was amazing and thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
I have been pestering my partner to visit the Hammersmith Ram with me, as the food was amazing. We finally had a chance to visit the Ram for lunch today. What a disappointment. I would even go so far as to say it was really upsetting. I had hyped the Ram up so much, only to be served the food that we received. very bad.
I ordered the sausages (which I presumed would be served with mashed potatoes) and my partner ordered the steak and chips. The steak was ok, but not seasoned. The chips were not very good either, just cheap frozen chips. The gravy that was served with my sausages, looked like watered down tea, horrible colour and so thin. The sausages were good quality, but not cooked properly. The sausages just about made it to the grill, pasty colour of the sausages as you can see in the photos. I was offered some more of the same gravy, which I declined. Instead of mash, the sausages were served on a bed of dry, crushed, over cooked, new potatoes with the skin on. I was gob smacked. WE PAID £55.20 FOR BREAD STARTER, TWO MAINS, COKE AND A GLASS OF WINE.
I couldn't eat my meal, so I asked for a doggie back to take the food home for my dog. Before putting the food in the doggie bag, I cut everything up to help soak up the watery gravy.
When I raised my concerns to the server, We were informed that they had a new chef, and that everyone was praising the new menu. There was no effort to offer a free drink, or offer a discount for the next visit. nothing.
On our way out, the server who had seen that I had chopped the food up for my dog, smiled and said to me enjoy the food. By this stage I was fuming and snapped back that the 'food' was for the DOG!! I will not be returning to the Hammersmith Ram.

At first glance, the oak-panelled interior of the Hammersmith Ram gives the illusion of an oasis of calm amid the hustle and bustle of busy King Street. Look closer, however, and you will see it for what it really is - an overpriced torture chamber with the customer service of a Medieval jail.
Spotting the 'Ultimate Ram-ification Burger Challenge', my optimistic and well-meaning friend took the bait. The burger in question, containing bacon, egg, onion rings and close to a pound of prime meat, comes in at an eye-watering £15.75. It had never been finished in less than 4 minutes and 12 seconds. A feat, a CHALLENGE well worthy of a prize if beaten, you might think... perhaps a free beer or even the meal itself for free (as food-related challenges usually go).
The Cambridge Dictionary defines the word 'challenge' as follows: "(the situation of being faced with) something that needs great mental or physical effort in order to be done successfully and therefore tests a person's ability:"
Great mental and physical effort indeed. Dylan smashed the record time by 20 seconds, downing the burger in 3 minutes and 50 seconds. The roof of his mouth was as raw as a platter of sushi. He was sweating and panting like a paedophile in a playground. Celebrating uproariously, we enquired after the prize.
But no! The burger servant waddled over, shook his head and refused Dylan anything but a 'certificate of participation' for his extraordinary effort. Silence spread throughout the group as we came to realise the real ram-ifications of what was going on here...in a word: deception.
Not only that, but to add insult to injury, Dylan's name was spelled 'DY CAN' - quite different, I think you'll agree. On behalf of myself, DY CAN and the rest of our party - you'd be well advised to avoid this place... save your money, save your appetite and save your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI found myself in Hammersmith looking for a nice spot for a casual pub lunch, and The Hammersmith Ram immediately caught my eye. The exterior seemed so welcoming that I decided to head in for a quick drink.Ā The atmosphere inside was warm and inviting, with a relaxed and friendly vibe that made us feel comfortable from the start. The staff were fantastic attentive, genuinely helpful, and enjoying their work. They took the time to help me choose a drink, and their service throughout our visit was excellent. We were seated quickly, and I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly everything went. The table service was efficient and very personable, which made it feel more like a special treat than just a casual drop-in. The food was well presented and made with care. Every detail from the arrangement on the plate to the timing of the service was spot on. I also loved that the pub is dog-friendly! This added a real sense of community and comfort, demonstrating that they've created an environment where everyone feels welcome, including our four-legged friends.I will return to The Hammersmith Ram, next time with my dog and some friends in tow. I also attend many business meetings, and this pub is now on my list of venues to bring clients to asĀ it strikes the perfect balance of professionalism and relaxed charm. I highly recommend The Hammersmith Ram if you're in the area and looking for great food, friendly service, and a genuinely lovely atmosphere.
