I entered the store at 4.20pm and asked an employee what time the store closes which he told me 4.30pm so I rushed around to buy some desserts for dinner I was invited to. I quickly chose up a few desserts as I was conscious about the time I'd already chosen my deserts and was about to go to the till. All of a sudden an employee looking straight at me shouted in an aggressive manner down the isle the first few things I didn't hear as I was shocked someone was shouting at me in this way, I felt very embarrassed then I started to understand what he was shouting he was telling me to get to the till and if I didn't go to the till right now I won't be able to buy my items. I then realised that this same person has spoken to me rudely before. I recall the first time when he told me I had to check out and I couldn't look around anymore so I went to check out 2 items and whilst at the till another man with a full basket asked if he could go and get milk and he calmly told him he could and not to worry about the time. I asked him why I was told something different and he responded rudely and basically told me to shut up. Both times he's been disrespectful to me infront of my 11 year old son. Leaving me extremely embarrassed and upset. This time I responded in the same manner he's treated me and he decided to say Infront of all the other shoppers that I was angry We went back and forth, he told me his age 17, and I told him I'm going to complain and he said he doesn't care hes been there for 2 years implying that he wouldn't get in trouble. He clearly is under trained and does not know how to deal with people which is supposed to be his job. A woman at the till said I was right to stand up for myself and another woman outside said she also felt upset he had spoken to her rudely. He seems like he has aggression towards women and is not suited to the job he's been employed to do. As I was leaving I saw his manager asking him to calm down which he couldn't do as she had to repeatedly ask him and put her hands up saying stop stop. I then asked her name and said I wanted to complain and although she couldn't calm her worker down she didn't seem to be helpful to me. I said as the store was closing I woul be back tomorrow to complain and he in a sarcastic way pointed to his name tag and told me his full name. I did not engage with him or respond. I've never been spoken to the way he...
Read moreTerrible experience yesterday at the self checkout as for some reason the machine didn’t count properly the cash I had put in, even though it was exact. However, when explained to the member of staff June TWICE and asked her to check inside the machine if she wished, I was told LITERALLY ‘the machine cannot be wrong’, which doesn’t take a genius to know what that implies. When asked directly whether she was implying I was lying, she immediately started backing up her own words by saying she never said the machine couldn’t be wrong and even dared calling me a liar for pointing out the exact words that came out of her own mouth. So apparently this lady thinks it’s okay to insinuate or put a customer’s word into question anytime, but yet she will call you a lier if you are smart enough to realise and get the actual hint. But beware not only she will call you that but also ask you to ‘go away’ in front of others customers, only because you unexpectedly rightly confronted her. Oh, and let’s not forget when her colleague came to the rescue and recognised in front of this woman that their machines CAN ACTUALLY BE WRONG and sometimes don’t count the cash/money properly. So please, if this happen to any of you and you have the bad luck of getting a nasty judgemental uptight woman like June, speak up and don’t let anyone doubt your honesty nor play with your mind. Needless to say, I discourage everyone to shop at Enfield Town store, specially if you expect good customer service, as it really is a hit and miss. I’ve personally been shopping here for a long time and there are a lot of old veteran women who think they own the company and they are just doing you a favour, rather than appreciating you for contributing to their salary. To M&S: I believe you could do much better. Too many unemployed people out there who could be doing a much better job than all those old British straight-faced ladies together. Get those women down their high horse and instead hire kind humans who will love and appreciate their job. Or else LEARN from your higher competitor which always gives the best customer service ever! I’ve seen people with more grace and customer service basics in Poundland!! No wonder the bad reviews you have...
Read moreThe 5 star review is for the staff in the food hall who seem very helpful, well motivated and loyal to the M&S brand. Security has been improved since my last review and the guy at the front of house strikes the right note between being watchful & friendly. There should be more of him. He’s an absolute star. M&S needs to continue to be vigilant that its landlord continues to be security conscious. The clothing & beauty section is another matter & that’s the first thing you see when you walk in & go up & down the escalators. There are few staff around & those that are there are talking behind the till. M&S needs to employ more people in the clothing section as there’s no one to ask about anything. The clothing collection is not well curated & needs editing by someone fashion conscious & attuned to the local demographic, sizes 10-14 are not always available & staff are not being briefed by Head Office on the latest trends eg Sienna Miller, Sheerluxe, This Morning Show, key seasonal looks etc. These items should be badged in store & staff should know where and if they are available. The beauty section has been abandoned. Why? Clothing & beauty takes up 3/4 of the store. There’s no basic homeware, not even a towel. M&S cannot rely on online to shift product as recent events have demonstrated. People pull the trigger in store. The store needs a facelift, especially the toilets, & would generate more sales if it did so. M&S Head Office should not neglect this store as Palace Gardens is, at last, improving its landscape & there’s money to be made here, especially with a younger & more affluent demographic & more engagement with key, big employers in Enfield would be good. The store has great management & employees hence the 5 stars. The rest is up to...
