I have been using box dye for a while now and just fancied a new look, so I popped into a few local salons after work to get a consultation and quotes and pretty much got the brush off. The general feedback was my hair was too long and because I’ve been using box dye for a while they didn’t want to work extra hard to remove this from my hair. I popped into see Mario without scheduling an appointment before hand but he was so nice about it. Immediately I felt the difference in service. He sat me down and gave me water and walked me through the consultation in a soft voice. He obviously pointed out the box dye issue but didn’t use this as an obstacle to do my hair, in fact he reassured me that he will take all the time he needs to do the job perfectly. I was only looking to get quote but ended up booking an appointment. On the day, Alberto mainly worked on my hair with guidance from Mario. They both kept me informed each step of the way and I felt confident they knew what they were doing and pretty much gave them free reign with colours and style. Separately, I had shoulder surgery a few months back and it still can get quite painful, which Mario and Alberto were super considerate about and ensured I was comfortable throughout the whole experience, providing me with pillows and rearranging my seating. They both kept me hydrated and even fed as the session went on for a little more than 5 hours. The place is just perfection. If you’re looking for an impeccable service and professional advice on your hair then I would strongly recommend seeing Mario and/or the other hair stylist. It’s a shame that not all salons provide the customer care but this is something Mario has caught onto and clearly makes him stand out across the rest! I was refused service at this salon. After initial first contact when I sent the photo of my hair, I had a phone conversation and made an appointment to come in for a patch test some week later. During the patch test and consultation we have confirmed what colour I want and the deposit was taken. Shortly after I was contacted with a message that a colorist who was gonna work on my hair was shown the photo of my hair (like he wasn't shown it before?!) and that now he doesn't think that my hair 'is ready for colour'. This is after all the previous contact and my visit in person. The only possible explanation for this 'sudden' change of mind is that the photo of the hair doesn't really show the volume and after seeing that I have more than 3 strands of hair on my head, they've figured that it would cost them too much. Insulting your client by saying bad things about their hair is perhaps not the winning strategy to take in such circumstances. Why call your self a hair colour professional if you can't work with ANY hair? Seems like this salon is specialized in first time colour only and is largely inexperienced and unprofessional. Don't waste your time if you've already been coloring your hair for decades and have more than 3 strand on your hand. These people wouldn't know the first thing about colour and would just waste your time instead. They have also been hesitant in returning my deposit, knowing that they are not providing the service I asked for and tried to get me to come in to waste money on some other treatment. Mario is such an amazing hair dresser! I’ve never met anyone quite like him who shows that he really cares about his clients and their hair. Right from the get go, he initially told me he couldn’t do the colour I wanted done with my hair since it’s been quite damaged from having it done previously and not having to take care of it. At first I wanted to just cut my hair really short since it’s very frustrating to have this damaged hair but he insisted not to and told me he can do something about it. He said it will be a waste if I decided to cut it due to frustration. He even gave his own advice, took his time to explain everything to me about my hair and what he can do to save it. I was so glad I listened to him and trusted him! This is my very first time meeting someone who actually cares about my hair and not just about the money and their business. I was so glad I went to him and his team which I highly recommend 100% if you’re looking for someone who you can trust not only to do your hair but also to make you feel good about yourself and will show and teach you how to properly take care of it. He even went out of his way on his day off on a Valentine’s Day just to get my hair done which explains a lot about his true genuine personality.
