I have contacted the hotel manager on 2 occasions but he/ she has ignored my messages Total disinterest by the manager I want to know what it is about this hotel that is 'boutique' because my room - see photos- really didn't match the Description I was really looking forward to staying at this hotel. I had often walked past it on previous trips to Covent Garden and decided that I wanted to stay here for my 'big Birthday' As I am unlikely to celebrate another 'big birthday' I wanted this trip to London to be special including staying in a nice hotel. It describes itself as 'boutique' Please look at the attached photos and tell me if this matches the 'boutique' description? -peeling walls curtains falling down -A very small claustrophobic room Windows covered in opaque film so unable to see anything outside -a bed with no bedside tables or shelves so my drinks, medication and bedside paraphernalia had to be placed on the floor which I feel in unhygienic and not very accessible Heating was awful.I turned on a heater and my bed was covered in black fluff, dried insects and dirt. The heater must be full of dirt due to lack of cleaning and must have health and safety consequences which I plan to check out with the local health and safety authorities -The bathroom heater didnt work we had reported it but no one has any idea when fixing it will take place,in fact it was never fixed during our stay Considering this was one of the coldest days the heating was inadequate and didn't work efficiently -The edge of the shower curtain was dirty, disgusting and mouldy -My partner splashed out on 'extras' as it was my big birthday this included chocolates.these were out of date and I also wonder how they had been stored. They tasted stale and we returned them to the hotel reception The so called luxury bath bomb had been opened and the wrapper crudely sellotaped back. The hotel sells cold drinks but no sugar free for guests who are unable to have sugar I used one of my hand wipes to clean dirty light switches and a sticky TV remote. I asked to speak to a manager and was told he was away until after we've left we returned from a trip out at 1pm on one day and our door was left open It is my opinion that the description of the hotel rooms are inaccurate even fraudulent This was a break we had looked forward to for many months and sadly Fieldings hotel ruined it In my opinion and experience the hotel quality is clearly being misrepresented I suggest anyone wanting to book Fieldings checks...
Read moreFirst and foremost, this hotel is in an excellent location for the Royal opera house and Covent Garden being situated by the statue of the little ballerina. The hotel is perfectly adequate and has many traditional features but bear in mind that this historic hotel can look a little shabby in places. We booked a twin room through trip.com but I had to phone the hotel to confirm they had booked us in a twin room as our receipt said it wasn’t guaranteed. The gentleman on reception was helpful, easy to understand and had a good telephone manner. When we arrived ,check in was very quick and simple and the reception team were welcoming. There is no lift in this hotel and there are three floors with many up and down levels. Our twin room had a staircase down to the tea/coffee facilities and bathroom. The room was clean and the beds small but comfortable. Pillows were a little flat. We visited in summer and there was a portable air con unit which was appreciated. TV had basic channels. There was a small selection of tea and coffee and two small bottles of complimentary still water. The bathroom was adequate with complimentary shower gel, body lotion and hand soap. The bathroom was in need of a little maintenance but the shower was hot and towels were provided. Paintwork throughout the room was shabby and the chest of drawers were flimsy. Carpets had been hoovered but there were stains and signs of ware and tear. Furniture in the room was a little tatty but it was nice to have two chairs and a side table to watch TV instead of sitting on the bed. There are plenty of plug sockets although one or two of them are broken and look a bit dangerous. There is a wardrobe with 8 hangers, a safe, a case rack and an extra blanket. There are no food facilities in the hotel but it doesn’t matter as it’s surrounded by good cafes, restaurants and other places to eat. They do sell soft drinks and crisps at a reasonable price. We travelled in from Tottenham Court Road (Elizabeth Line) which is a 10 minute walk but Covent Garden Tube station is marginally closer ( Piccadilly Line ) I would recommend this hotel based on location and if you want to try a traditional boutique hotel but if you like your luxuries I would probably...
Read moreI recently had an extremely disappointing experience with The Fielding Hotel London, and my interactions with Expedia added to the frustration. I booked a room for £320 for 4 people through Expedia, and the photo displayed was of a lovely room. To my surprise, the hotel later contacted me to inform that the room had no windows, which was not at all what was shown in the photo. When I requested actual photos of the room, they were entirely different from what I had initially seen and booked.
Throughout this ordeal, not once did the hotel apologize for the misleading information. Instead, they seemed to expect me to just accept the situation. When I tried to get a refund, both the hotel and Expedia repeatedly denied my request, citing the hotel's non-refund policy. It's important to note that I made my decision based solely on the information provided by Expedia and the hotel, which turned out to be incorrect.
What's even more frustrating is that when I approached Expedia to rectify the situation by taking down the misleading room photos, they simply ignored my request. This is not only unprofessional but also concerning as it continues to mislead other potential customers.
After much hassle and time spent escalating the issue, I finally managed to get a refund. However, due to the delay, I had to pay a significantly higher price to book another hotel closer to my arrival date.
I would strongly advise potential guests to be cautious when considering a stay at The Fielding Hotel London and to double-check any information provided by booking platforms like Expedia. The lack of accountability and customer service from both parties left a sour taste...
