This was my second Z Hotel (I stayed at Z Hotel Trafalgar last year). We chose Holborn because I was sharing with my adult daughter this time, and Holborn has a King room option where you can get out of bed on both sides. (I had a Queen room last year, though, and loved it as well--they're great for one person or for couples.) Z Hotel Holborn is close to buses and the Holborn tube station. Cafe Nero, Burger King, Pret a Manger, a Thai place, and several other restaurants are within a block. The King rooms are on the ground floor in their own wing. Ours had a large window, but it faced an alley with trash cans. Not an issue--it was a pleasant Britishy-looking alley between two brick buildings and kept clean, with no garbage smell or anything, and sun came in from the end of the alley. Do note that the window didn't open (many don't in the Z Hotels). We had space on both sides of the bed to move around and keep two checked suitcases, similar to a room size in the US. There was also a desk with stool, mirror, blowdryer, kettle, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. Above that was a large TV (much larger than most hotel rooms) with apps like BBC and Sky. No regular TV programming though--the error message said something about no license. The bathroom does have the frosted glass, but better frosted than the Trafalgar location. When my daughter showered, I could only make out her right elbow when it came up against the glass. And the toilet area isn't visible at all. But bring room spray or Poo Pourri--there's no exhaust fan in the bathroom! I also recommend running the sink or turning on the TV when someone is "dropping the kids off at the pool" because you can hear everything LOL. We bought the breakfast one morning, but wouldn't do it again--it cost around $18 US/13GBP for a selection of yogurt, fruit, juice, coffee, tea, ham, and cheese, and another $4 because I asked for a soda. Skip it--there's a Cafe Nero two doors down, and we became fans. It's cheap, fast, and tasty. (Breakfast sandwiches, meat rolls, pastries, hot and cold drinks, lots of seating.) We also got two pizzas one evening from the hotel restaurant and was happy with those. Just average pizzas, but decently priced at 11-13 GBP, and can feed 2 people (or one person can eat most of one if they try). There's free cheese and wine in the evenings. We only had it once, but it was filling enough to do for my dinner since I wasn't starving that night. About six cheeses, with chutneys, crackers, etc, and a choice of house wines. There are lots of outlets in the room, including USB ports on both sides of the bed. And the lights, blinds, and thermostat are controlled via a touch pad next to the bed. The WiFi worked consistently for us (better than cellular data, which has trouble penetrating the old brick buildings in London). Z Hotels don't have laundry services, ice machines, vending machines, microwaves, or fridges. However, the 24/7 staff downstairs can always get you a drink or some ice, and I *think* they can make basic food such as pizzas and sandwiches at any hour. I've also been told they can refrigerate medical supplies upon request but cannot verify this. Both Z Hotel Holborn and Z Hotel Trafalgar get 5 stars because they're an EXCELLENT value in London. I'm told Premier Inns are also popular budget choices, but I prefer Z because you can get a Queen or King bed (important for us fluffy people, especially when traveling with someone who's not our partner, such as an adult child). And both rooms were extremely clean and in good repair. The lobbies are secured at night and felt like they were in safe areas.

I had never stayed in a Z Hotel, I wasn't even so convinced by reading the reviews but it was a pleasant surprise. The location is excellent, a short walk from Holborn St, there are also many buses nearby that take you to Oxford Street, Picadilly Circus etc and nearby there is also a pharmacy and a supermarket (Salisbury's) which is open until late. Among other things, the area is very safe, I have never felt in danger. By staying the first night on a Sunday, I saved a bit. For 2 nights 2 people I paid £256.50. In other countries I would think the price is high for a room like the ones they have, but for London it's fine!( I stayed on Sunday ~ Tuesday) I had a problem with the first room, and the staff was very kind and willing to change my room right away! The room was equipped with a kettle with tea, coffee, chamomile... there wasn't much variety of teas but you can always bring your own/buy it! We were traveling with a backpack, so we didn't have major space problems. In the bathroom there was a very useful shelf where you could put most of the stuff and under the table there was also a space to put the rest. The room had both an English socket and two USB sockets so you can avoid bringing the adapter. Services are excellent. In the room they leave you a glass bottle with water. Perhaps the complimentary products could have been better… there was only 1 bar of soap, 1 shampoo&conditioner, and 1 body soap (small size). However if you put the "cleaning" tag outside the door, they supply you the complimentary products and teas, they change the towels too. I was very satisfied!!👏👏 Now let's move on to the things I liked the least… the first is definitely THE WATER PRESSURE! Very bad, as I have long and thick hair it took me forever to take a shower! Second thing, the bathroom. The room is small but they used every available inch to make it functional! What bothered me was the bathroom almost transparent and not soundproofed. There is a lack of privacy, that's for sure. The attention to detail / cleaning is lacking a bit. When I used the hairdryer, it was a little dirty with foundation from a previous client… Last thing, the room had a window but it didn't open so I always had warm air in the room which is fine however after a while my eyes/throat got dry. Overall, I really liked my stay. I have a really good memory of my short time in London. ❣️

Never again! A horrible experience at check in. I actually had to walk out of the building in tears. Our son booked the room for us for our 30th wedding anniversary trip to London. We don’t use hotels so our son sorted it out for us and paid in advance. We brought our booking confirmation but we were unaware we needed the card he booked with so couldn’t produce it at check in. The check in staff asked us repeatedly for it and we tried to explain we didn’t have it. I was told to call my son and get a photo of it but he didn’t have the card with him so we were stuck at reception in front of other guests, embarrassed and anxious. They then said we could book in and produce the card later, then they asked for my photo ID, again I didn’t know I needed it and hadn’t brought anything with me. The manager was called and I just ran out crying, embarrassed and stressed at all the fuss in the foyer in front of other hotel guests. My husband explained it was our anniversary treat but all I wanted to do was cancel our weekend and go home. A thoroughly horrible experience that ruined our day. Somehow they allowed us to our room, either they wanted us out of the foyer or they may have felt bad at upsetting me do much. My son was angry at how we were treated and called the manager to complain, he insisted she came to our room & apologised which she did but to be honest it wasn’t very sincere. Once in the room we wanted to relax for a bit and put the tv on only to find it didn’t work! The manager brought in maintenance and he explained the sky system wasn’t working but he had emailed them. So we were stuck in the room with nothing to watch and wind down to after a long day walking around London attractions. On the second night we complained to the night manager who did try to reset the tv with no joy so she refunded a portion of our bill to compensate. It was a relief to check out to be honest. I wish I had checked other reviews before booking. I see the hotel never reply to negative reviews, this leads me to believe they quite frankly don’t care!

I found staying at the Z Hotel in Holborn to be one of the best hotel experience i have had in a very long time.

As a business owner i have stayed at top end hotels and some budget hotels in my time however none of the come remotely close to how i was made felt very welcome and i had all my needs catered for.

I will give a few examples, i requested more towels and within 5 minutes the nice young gentlemen delivered to my door along with some water and a cup and a spoon all items i requested along with a smile and a simple thank you.

This is the service delivery people do expect but rarely is achieved for many reasons could be time, being busy or other reasons.

I stayed at the hotel for two days for work purposes and my stay has been very good from start to finish.

My blinds worked perfectly, my 49 Inches TV with movie channels worked perfectly and my bed was one of the most softest and welcoming beds i have had the pleasure of sleeping in after a long hard day at the office over the christmas holidays.

If i could have given this hotel 10 Star i would but google only allow 5 star.

Finally,

The shower was amazing it was like having a massage early in the morning very wonderful plus the rooms meet all my needs had a kettle, cups, spoons, sugar, coffee and milk.

I will be coming in the future and the price at £50 per night for my stay was a good price range.

I will be recommending this Z Hotel to my friends and family for there London stay.

Its the small details that made my stay that little more better like how the coffee and sugar tray is arranged so you can select your sugar and coffee in a suitable manner and not knocking anything over, the TV volume is set to 30 can not go any higher this is good as you dont want to stay in a hotel and find your traveller next door has their on full volume and finding they have to me what looks like mood lighting very posh but i liked it.

And the shower and toliet area was something i would have seen in a 5 star or 7 star hotel so that was a big bonus to find.

The people made the business and they are the most important part of the business and alway was made welcome no need was too big or small for the to handle and always with a human smile.

I will be coming back in the new year 2021.

If you not sure just try something new and stay at Z Hotel in Holborn you in my opinion can not be...

Now let's move on to the things I liked the least… the first is definitely THE WATER PRESSURE!

When I used the hairdryer, it was a little dirty with foundation from a previous client…

Last thing, the room had a window but it didn't open so I always had warm air in the room which is fine however after a while my eyes/throat got dry.

Overall, I really liked my stay. I have a really good memory of my short time...
