Plenty of delicious options for meat eaters and vegetarians at good prices
If I could give this place 10 stars, I would.
Having both travelled throughout Central amd South America last year, there were flavours and meals we never thought we would experience again in somewhere with such a Western idea of 'Mexican' food. We have officially been proved wrong.
Found by chance in a little hole in the wall casual spot next to the pub, a quick scan over the menu promised something more authentic than usually encountered.
Being vegetarians, we were pleasantly suprised to see vegetarian options for almost all items on the menu. We ordered the tostadas, a quesadilla, and a Venezuelan arepa. The owner was lovely and spoke to s for a while, reminiscing about her home in Columbia.
Food came out quickly, and was all absolutely delicious. Although we didn't get the burritos, they looked to be about the size of my head. This food is about as authentic as you can get, we'll...
Read moreAfter walking pass this restaurant for months we finally went in. Sadly it wasn’t what we expected, the customer service was ok however I found it kinda cheeky that we had to walk up and collect the food, as it’s a small layout I found myself squeezing between the door and another customer at a table, the chef could have easily placed it on our table as it was made clear that we’re eating in. When ordering it was tricky and I was charged for an extra meal as the guy didn’t understand me. The food was ok definitely had better elsewhere and the plates look nice but are way too small causing a mess. Over priced too. The two biggest disappointment was that we ordered dishes that included chicken, beef and pork it wasn’t clear which dish was what and they all tasted the same.. very dry. The second thing was the EMPANADAS which were ROCK HARD. The chef over fried them completely which was a big shame as this is what we wanted to eat so badly. Definitely will not...
Read moreEdit, 13 Dec 2019 I am downgrading my previous review having visited a second time. This time the food was bland and the service was poor (four of us ordered our food at the same time, and two dishes were left to grow cold while they prepared the other two). Unlike every other place, the menus show prices WITHOUT VAT, so a Burrito marked at £8.50 costs you £9.35. This is way too expensive for a bland burrito. Not only do they not serve alcohol (which is fair enough) they claim that customers are not allowed to bring their own. But restaurants DO NOT NEED A LICENCE if they want to let customers BYOB.
Original review: Very tasty, and very generous portions, with friendly service. One main dish and a soft drink is about £11-14, which would be excellent value for a restaurant, but seems a bit pricey for what is basically a hole-in-the-wall takeaway place (there are about 3 tables, but most people seem to get takeaways. Does NOT...
