In preparation for an overseas move I made contact with Portobello Fine Arts & Antiques to arrange a valuation of a number of antique items and pieces of jewelry. Its been a very positive experience, Dean Clark responded quickly (whilst he was on holiday) and we arranged an in person visit for the following week. Dean and his business partner Paul were very professional and knowledgeable, they took time to review various pieces of antique furniture and porcelain collections explaining the market situation, what today's clients are looking for. Whereas they were not interested in these, they had a particular interested in jewelry and after a good 1.5 hours spent inspecting, weighing and valuing the items, a fair price was agreed and the the transaction completed on the spot by bank transfer and with a receipt. I also appreciated their advice on alternative ways of selling furniture via local auction houses including information on their fee structure (which was insightful) and home interior shops. They have put me in touch with another antiques dealer specialising in furniture. I would be happy to do business with them again...

Having had some disappointing valuations and the potential to reduce actual amount we received with Fees and VAT we contacted Dean at Portobello Fine Art and antiques. He purchased from us, Silver , Gold and Jewellery items paying more than the Auction Estimate and the added bonus of no fees or VAT to pay. Dean also introduced us to Patrick Moorhead Antiques who similarly paid more for Porcelain , Artwork and Furniture Antiques. The items were paid for immediately and the whole process was carried out without any pressure to sell. There was respect for family decisions on the sale of items and where Dean felt the items would not fit within his offering he gave sound advice on value and potential routes to take to obtain a sale. I first met Dean and Paul about 6 weeks ago when I answered a leaflet I received in the post. I was naturally very apprehensive in inviting 2 gentlemen I had never met, into my home. I was both surprised and extremely glad that I had taken that step. They bought several items from me and I was very pleased with their offer. They were both extremely polite and very knowledgeable about many things. They were never “pushy” and I felt very comfortable and relaxed dealing with them, so much so that I called Dean back last week and he bought a table from me at a price I was completely satisfied with.
