We were really looking forward to dining at the Thai restaurant in the Churchill Arms, but unfortunately, our experience was far from enjoyable. From the moment we arrived, the service set a negative tone. The very first thing we were told was, “You have the table for one hour.” Fair enough — we were fine with that. But then things went downhill.
Despite ordering drinks promptly, we ended up waiting 40 minutes for our food. We were here pretty early and it wasnt crowded It seemed clear we weren’t a priority, likely because we were just a party of two. Larger groups appeared to be served much more quickly. This felt less like a coincidence and more like a tactic — either to push smaller tables to order more drinks while waiting, or because they simply don’t value smaller bookings as much.
The 12.5% service charge added to the bill might explain some of this. It felt like the staff — especially one particular woman who served us — were more focused on upselling and pushing turnover than providing any genuine hospitality. When the bill came, she didn’t return with our change, seemingly assuming we’d tip on top of the already-included service fee. That alone was awkward, but even more uncomfortable was how she made us wait when we asked for it (yes, we had to ask for it, we were put in an awkward position with our own money.. ) while serving others before reluctantly bringing it over. We thanked her and said goodbye — she completely ignored us.
As for the food: it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t special either. Certainly not worth putting up with that kind of service for. There are far much better places in london.
Overall, it felt like the place prioritizes profit over people. We left feeling disappointed, and unfortunately, we won’t be coming back and we don't recommend it to you.
On the other hand, the bar seemed pretty good, we might just...

Read moreThis has got to be the most beautiful exterior of a pub I have ever seen. It is worth it for you to at least walk by, take a picture, and maybe pop in for a beer of a bite.
I knew I had wanted to visit this pub since I saw pictures online ages ago. As I approached and say the gorgeous plants, flags, and signage ... I was not disappointed.
The interior is spacious, but it was busy when we visited. There is no host/hostess, so, be prepared that it is on you to procure a table.
The staff was nice enough, not overly friendly, but it's a pub, and I didn't necessarily expect 5-star service. There are plenty of drink options (mostly beer). The decor is chaotic and cluttered, but it works, and creates a fun environment.
I wish I had time to try some of their Thai food. It smelled amazing as it passed by our table.
Some tips:
This pub is near the Nottinghill area. So, if you get a chance, check out the colorful buildings and the neat Portobello Market. If it's busy and packed, split up to search for seating. Odds are people all just having a pint or two and will be in and out shortly. The Thai menu looks amazing, but don't come in expecting typical English pub food. Also, the men's restroom had the most pungent urine smell that you could actually smell it harts away in the pub area. So, you might have to hold your breath as you go in.
All in all, it was a fun time, and I would definitely go...
