I would give this restaurant no stars, but unfortunately, that option is not available. Let me explain why. Upon arrival at Gaucho Piccadilly for our dinner reservation, we were greeted by Sasha, who informed us that our table would not be ready until 5:30 pm and directed us to the bar for a drink. Despite there being several empty tables, we were not attended to by any of the seven waiters who were running around with only six tables occupied. After 20 minutes, we were finally directed to our table, but we did not receive any food until 6:30 pm. When our main course arrived, the meat was overcooked to the point of being burned, and one dish was not cooked at all. We had to call the waitress and manager, who both acknowledged that our meals were unacceptable. We had been waiting for almost two hours for our food, and three of us had booked for a concert, which meant we had to leave immediately after receiving our meals. To make matters worse, one of our party was celebrating their birthday, which turned out to be a disaster and disappointment. The staff were ignorant and unprofessional, and the manager was confused. The food was tasteless, and the steaks were burnt and inedible. This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Although the manager deducted over £100 from our bill, we still paid over £170 for water and beer. Considering the high price of each meat dish at £45-50, this is an expensive restaurant with poor service and low food quality. I will never return to this place again and do not recommend it to anyone. The manager even asked us to pay the service charge, which we refused. Please follow me on Instagram! I booked to visit as I had a 25% discount card from Taste of London festival, having purchased some food from the Gaucho stall at that event. I cannot say I was overly impressed with the arrival experience, as I was made to feel a bit like the card was not real - the lady at reception then took it away to confirm with her manager, although I eventually had to question what had happened because we didn't get any confirmation as to whether or not it was ok - the waiter confirmed it had been applied when I followed up before we placed an order for food. The same member of staff that sat us at our table also took an initial order for some tap water as she sat us down, which did not arrive. Our waiter then took an order for tap water which didn't arrive either, until he came back and asked again, and this time it arrived. As for the food - the bread was nice, the steak was tasty but not amazing. The chips were not fresh at all - stale and lukewarm. My chocolate brownie was also stale and barely warm. The other diners in my party reported tasty food - the sticky toffee pudding was good, as far as I could tell. The pumpkin gnocchi was good too. The fillet steak was expensive! Another forgotten request for more tap water that we had to ask for again (that's three failed attempts), and we then paid and left. All in all, I was not that enamoured with the experience - certainly not worth the money in my opinion, even with 25% discount. A final point - improve the signage for the toilets! It is really, really unclear where to go, and led to a mishap in my party as one our guests accidentally entered the male toilets - there is no obvious signage whatsoever.

Where do I start? Well when we arrived a little early it was made clear we were too early and we could wait at the bar and we were being held strictly to 1.5hr policy. I jokingly said well you’d best make sure the service is that good and I was assured it would be.

Well it seems that was not to be!

Josephine was our server and well what can I say? She was appallingly bad. She screwed the order up for the food completely had no advice about the what was good and how to pair things etc.

The food came and we had fries delivered which we hadn’t ordered and the mac and cheese didn’t arrive. The fries even though we hadn’t requested were cold and so was the rest of the food. Whilst I appreciate that steak has to rest the other food delivered was cold. The steak wasn’t even of good quality and had an odd taste.

One of the managers did come when fries arrived and she said she wouldn’t include on the bill (erm duh we didn’t order!) but then considering the issues we had no one came back to the table to check and see how things were.

Josephine knew there were issues and did everything to avoid coming back to our table.

Eventually Giovani came and saw how everything had gone wrong and as we hadn’t eaten took the food off the bill. The previous manager was like a praying mantis waiting for us to pay. Just wrong on so many levels.

Gaucho - your service and food has dropped massively considering the price you charge and yes if you want to speak to me then drop me a message because I will happily provide...
