Came here on the Thursday 10th August to see the Freddy Mercury collection that was taking place. The exhibition itâs self was stunning however on arrival the extremely rude guard was insisting on me leaving my bag with the reception staff whom when I spoke with them and explained I was carrying medication that was vital to my health they let me through. However when through many other people had bags, so I assume being dressed in casual attire made them think I didnât look the âright typeâ to be in the building or something. The next issue was the fact that despite using a walking aid and having used the lifts to get up and down there was another rude security guard that insisted he wouldnât let me through and I had to go up some stairs then down the other stairs to exit at the back. I explained I couldnât do the stairs and had just come back down in the lift. He proceeded in a very rude and argumentative manner to tell me that I could go up in the lift them down the stairs to get out. Again someone else had gone out the front way which was the only disabled access however I figured that clearly as I was only dressed in casual clothes or something that they thought I was no loss to the auction. I was truly upset by the way these guards treated me and my friend. I ended up getting completely lost from my partner who was made to exit the back way and walk all the easy round to find me. A beautiful exhibition that was ruined by rude staff, a lack of compassion for anyone who has a disability and very clearly judging people based on their appearance. This review has nothing to do with the exhibition of phenomenal Freddy Mercury items but is purely based on the business due to very inexperienced staff who had no empathy, experience and clearly donât care if someone has any kind of disability etc. The first security guard when I tried to explain about my medication said it didnât matter and I could die if I had to but I wasnât taking it in. So the collection of items was great, really worth visiting but the whole place really needs some better trained staff...
Read moreI visited Sothebys for the Freddie Mercury Exhibit and was very impressed with the display of the many items from his home. I returned for the At Home Auction on 8 September and bought the Minton Majolica Centerpiece which was featured on his Dining Room Table. I returned the next day to collect the piece and I inspected it before it was taken to the back room for wrapping and it was in good condition. However, when I returned home and carefully took it out of the bag I noticed it was very tightly wrapped in bubble wrap. After I carefully took it out of the bubble wrap and placed it on the Dining Room Table it appeared to be a bit wobbly and then shockingly I noticed a piece of one of the 3 legs was missing which again shockingly I later found in the wrapping. I immediately called the Sothebys office to notify them of the damage. I then brought it back to Sothebys on the following Monday and they refused to take responsibility for any damage which was totally unexpected and very disappointing as in my opinion the piece was damaged after I inspected it and prior to itâs being returned to me after it was wrapped for me to take away. So, to say I am disappointed and a very dissatisfied customer of Sothebys is an understatement to say the least especially considering the value of the item and the circumstances in which it was handed over to me after...
Read moreHi Sothebyâs! Remember me? We donât get along well! (Cartier hates me more!). How about I have evidence your auctions may not be such a great deal. See my photos for a better understanding. Sure 007/400 with the signatures of Roger Moore as 007 and Christopher Lee has some value over 060/400, but over $20,000 more? I bought my golden gun replica for considerably less than yours, but the gun replica is exactly the same as yours except for the display case and the signatures, so clearly your gun plus display glasses plus signatures is more valuable but that much more valuable? I guess it makes me question the value of purchasing at auction through you. As for selling collectibles? Wow! I know where I want my estate sold: Sothebyâs! Nobody Does It Better when it comes to getting top dollar from collectors who seem to be willing to pay many multiples over somethingâs true value for bragging rights. Maybe itâs worth it! Picture me with mine and why youâre sold for and what I paid for 060/400, Thanks! I feel like I got an incredible deal where?...
