Date Visited – 18th August 2024. Rating: Excellent Customer Service, and Quality Food. Atmosphere: The restaurant offers plenty of space and is nicely adorned with photos that reflect their journey. It features different sections to serve customers. There is outdoor seating, but it is mostly weather-dependent. Location: The nearest tube station is Oxford Circus (The station is situated in London's West End in Fare Zone 1. It is served by three underground lines; the Victoria, Bakerloo, and Central lines.), and less than 10 minutes’ walk to Kingly street. The address is - 22 Kingly Street, London, W1B 5QP. Customer Service: Every member of the restaurant staff is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service, right from the front entrance to Cashier and Server. Special mention to Aditi and Juraj, who delivered an exceptional customer service. I have encountered several outstanding examples of this dedication, which I am eager to outline below. 1- Queue Management: When the restaurant reaches its full capacity, including those on the waiting list, a new queuing system will be implemented. Surprisingly, each customers seem more than willing to wait. What really impressed me, though, was the restaurant staff serving complimentary drinks and tea or coffee to those standing in line. Isn’t that wonderful? 2- Order Management: We placed an order for extra Puri, and it didn’t go unnoticed by the attentive staff (Aditi and Juraj – Table No: 50/1) who saw that we were still waiting. The service gentleman and lady came over to express their apologies, which was genuinely commendable. They immediately went to the kitchen to make sure our order was fulfilled quickly, and as a kind gesture, they didn’t charge us for the extra Puri. Their dedication to exceptional customer service over profit is truly admirable. It made us understand why so many people are willing to stand in line for an hour. Food Quality: The food here is absolutely delightful. I tried sweet lassi and it was a standout compared to other places. We also indulged in Paneer Tikka and Chole Puri, both of which were scrumptious. And as a delightful surprise, they treated us to free Ice Cream Candy at the end. Wow, they really know how to keep the surprises coming. Price: We paid £63 for three people, and I believe that's a fantastic price, especially given the Central London location and the food we ordered. I strongly recommend it for anyone wanting a good meal with great customer service. Toilet: Both, men and women toilet are in the basement. Men’s toilet was clean with an adequate supply of tissue rolls. Table Booking – We came in on a hectic Sunday evening. The front staff was very courteous and accommodating. They asked us to go to the Reception, take a buzzer, and wait for our turn. True to their word, we were called in 40 minutes. (Content from Website) - Dishoom is mostly a walk-in café – simply come along and walk-in. However, if you'd like to make a reservation, groups of any size may book during the day. After 6pm, we accept bookings for groups of six or more.

5 - Service 5 - Atmosphere 5 - Food 5 - Beverage 4.5 - Value Too good to rate - Chicken Ruby We had this on our must try stops & made a point of getting there early to avoid a wait. It didn't quite work out that way, as the place was already packed with a wait list. Fortunately, the line to get on the list hadn't formed yet, (more on that later), & we were adv 1-1.5hrs wait, then handed our blinky light alert box. We were told we were welcome to enjoy the bar but don't go far if you go outside, as the blinky light box range isn't great. No problem, we arrived much earlier than our usual dinner time & wanted to try a few different drinks. The bar area has a bar top (full) several standing height tables where you can get to know other diners & some tall chairs so some of the patrons at the table can sit. On average 2-3 different groups shared each standing table & bar seats filled before they were vacant (I know, impossible, but true!) We bellied up but didn't hit up the bar to order, as they were swamped. We decided to hold off til we hit our table - after about 30min, we were approached for a drink order - no arm twisting needed. The glasses were prepped and drinks delivered in plastic-wrapped bottles to self-pour. I thought it was an interesting presentation. The couple across from us did not. They also feel that locals shouldn't have to be waitlisted -awkward table share moment as tourists. Hmm. We were seated about the 1hr mark & walked through the menu by a way-too-energetic server. I was exhausted watching her work & she was excellent at her job. We followed MOST of her recommendations & none were a miss. The least favorite was the prawns & umm, that was all me. The favorite, uncontested, without a doubt, lick the bowl, judge me if you must dish Chicken Ruby. I was craving it already on the walk to the hotel. I would drink the sauce from a mug all day long. My hubs loved the rice pudding, p"possibly the best he's ever had" topped with caramelized sugar, like a Brule. I drank my dessert (Espresso Martini) & another must try on a cool night is the chai chocolate drink -yum! The price wasn't crazy given 4 drinks on top of our dishes & a dessert. I've bookmarked it for our next visit & added the Chicken Ruby to my Crave-worthy list, currently 5 dishes strong, so, it's not easy to get on this list. Service was attentive without being fussy. On exit, the line to GET ON the wait list was down the side of the building & staff were passing tasters out to appease the crowd. I get it tho. I'd wait in that next time too if it was the only way in!

Dishoom, a renowned name in the culinary scene, is indeed a bustling hub of activity, as evident from the challenge of securing a table, even for a simple lunch or dinner. Upon entering, the initial inconvenience of waiting at the bar was tactfully turned into an opportunity to indulge in a beverage, a subtle but effective business tactic. The drink, while satisfactory, didn't quite leave a lasting impression. My visit was driven by the desire to sample Dishoom's celebrated breakfast offerings. Opting for the vegan Bombay, egg naan roll, bun maska, and house chai, I eagerly anticipated a flavorful experience. The ambiance, with its charming open veranda and distinctive decor, offered a pleasant setting, especially conducive for enjoying a warm masala chai on a chilly day. The presence of the guard beside the fire pit added a whimsical touch to the atmosphere. However, the culinary journey fell short of expectations. The breakfast menu, tailored for those less familiar with Indian flavors, presented dishes with notably mild tastes and lacking in basic seasoning. The vegan Bombay, comprising vegan sausages, masala beans, tofu bhurji, and mushrooms, failed to deliver the authentic punch of Indian cuisine. The absence of spice necessitated an additional order of green chilies to inject some much-needed flavor. Similarly, the sausages left much to be desired, lacking the distinctiveness that would set them apart. The inclusion of an oversized tomato piece seemed arbitrary and out of place, failing to enhance the overall dish. The bun maska, a traditional Mumbai delicacy, failed to capture the essence of its origin, falling short of expectations. Disappointingly, the house chai failed to impress, lacking the depth and richness expected of a classic Indian tea. The lingering feeling of dissatisfaction persisted even with the naan roll, despite its commendable softness and freshness. The unexpected sweetness within the roll deviated from the anticipated savory profile, further dampening the overall experience. In conclusion, my visit to Dishoom left me with mixed feelings. While the ambiance exuded charm and warmth, the culinary offerings failed to match the hype surrounding the establishment. The breakfast menu, in particular, fell short of delivering the authentic Indian experience, leaving much to be desired in terms of flavor and execution. While I wouldn't dissuade others from visiting, I would advise opting for lunch or dinner over breakfast, in the hopes of a more satisfying culinary experience. Perhaps with focused attention on refining their breakfast offerings, Dishoom can reclaim its former glory and restore its authenticity amidst the sea of tourist-centric establishments.

I heard legendary stories about Dishoom, and since my favorite cuisine in the world is actually Indian, you can imagine how much excited I was to try this restaurant. You can only book for breakfast or lunch or if you are a group more than 6, otherwise you will have to stand in a queue from 30 to 75 mins depending on the location and time of the day. I was lucky to have waited only 30 mins since I visited at 10 pm. We were greeted inside on the bar and wait to be seated for dinner. We ordered a glass of white wine which was delicious and an espresso martini which was very tasty and had the perfect spicyness to it from the chili on top. After we got seated, I started to admire every corner of the restaurant, from the vibrant atmosphere, the lighting, the paintings, the energy and vibe of the place. Our waiter made sure we felt comfortable and presumed to explain many items on the menu and make recommendations. We ordered for starters Khichia and Chundo which had the perfect crunch and came with 3 different types of Chutneys and Pau Bhaji which is the definition of Bombay comfort food, I loved them both. For main dishes we ordered Dishoom chicken Tikka, Chicken Biryani with raspberry and Chef's special Salli Boti, which I enjoyed the most. The lamb was so tender in a rich tomato sauce with the perfect mix of spices, I believe this was the best Indian dish I ever tried. Even their mango Lassi tasted special as it was infused with fennel, a combination I never thought of would turn out to be so good. The prices matched the quality of the ingredients and the quantity of the portions. Dining at Dishoom is an experience that I believe every one should try at least once in their life. I would like to thank everyone who made my dining experience very special with their extraordinary service

I had always been a big lover of dishoom, I have spoken highly of it in the past, recommended the place to many. I like what I like on their menu and always order the same things because Dishoom delivered. On Thursday night I went to Dishoom carnaby and all I had to say was what has happened to you? My old fashioned was so sweet and lackluster. The vada pav...oh Lord...in the past I have said it's the best in London and brings back nostalgic memories of the street stalls in Mumbai...on Thursday? No, just no. Stale, cold, tiny and highly disappointing. The okra fries were not crispy, the ruby Murray was sweet and tasted like the masalas had not been cooked through properly. The house black deal was also just ok. We ordered a bottle of white wine and asked for it to be super chilled, the wine was room temperature when it arrived. The mutton pepper fry was the only salvation and that too was a too little too late. I have eaten at every Dishoom in London, eagerly awaited every new restaurant opening and have never said the food was just OK. Infact when I hear others on #topjaw stating the most overrated spot on London is Dishoom, I used to be shocked. Now? I agree. Will I be going back again? No. Infact save your money, go to #gunowder, go to #hoppers. Harneet and Karan know what they are doing whilst the Dishoom lads seem to have lost their way. I now regret giving up 50mins of my life queuing up for the food we ultimately ate on Thursday. Wish I had gone to Kolamba next door.

Exceptional Service and Delicious Food!! A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staffs at Dishoom for making my first trip to London truly memorable! We walked in without a reservation and waited about 20-30 minutes for a table. While waiting, we ordered drinks, one of which came with a small request that was unfortunately missed. The server noticed this and promptly brought us a new drink with a sincere apology. However, as the new drink was being served, I accidentally knocked it over(😩!!!), spilling it all over the floor. I was mortified, especially as the restaurant was busy and I had made a huge mess. The lovely Dishoom staff quickly cleaned up the mess and reassured me with kind words. The manager soon came to our table and offered a free dry cleaning voucher for my stained clothes, even though the spill was entirely my fault! I politely declined as I didn't have much time left in my trip, but to my surprise, when the bill arrived, we found that all the food we had ordered was on the house. I was incredibly touched by their generosity. The lovely servers who took care of our table and the responsible manager made this a truly unforgettable experience in London. Of course, the food was also absolutely delicious! Even though it's a popular restaurant, I highly recommend waiting in line to try it for yourself. Thank you again, Dishoom!♥️
