From the moment we made our booking for our apartment in Gibraltar we had issues . We paid by Amex and we were informed that this ‘ had not gone through ‘ there was no reason for this yet when we booked it again it was then cancelled . Funnily , when we rebooked the price was £30 higher than the original. We booked and paid for an apartment with amenities all listed including use of the pool . However , upon arrival we were greeted by a man named Elliot who works for sweet stay who from the off set was rude and intimidating towards 2 line females both with disabilities and mental health issues . We found ourselves alone in our apartment with this horrible pretentious rude boy who wouldn’t leave without taking card details for a ‘£150 damage waiver’ . We questioned why we both had to pay £15 for a pass to enter the pool when this was listed on the booking and paid for as an included amenity. Worse still , you needed this pass to even access the building to get to our apartment? Only cash is accepted and no receipt would be provided so clearly there is a nice little money making scam going on here . Our holiday was ruined by the daily anxiety of touching and using anything in the apartment as this man had told us ‘ even a stain on a towel we will take £15 for ‘. I have never in my life stayed anywhere where I’m scared of using towels and it was very obvious that your company will use anything to make money out of guests . We got locked out on the balcony as Eliot had never shown us how to use the door when he showed up to let us back in once again we got ‘ your lucky you didn’t lock from the inside front door as you would have been charged for that ‘. Never mind that 2 females were locked outside their apartment 16 floors up with no contact details for reception or security . It was very frightening even more so for my friend who relies on her medication to be taken and it was due . Eliot is a bully . He tries to intimidate guests , is rude and highly condescending. They hounded me with messages leading up to the stay. When we were arriving, we had to pay extra for an early check-in. Okay, that was annoying, but we paid up. However, the time we paid for was not in fact when we checked in. One guy messaged me on WhatsApp and pushed out the time by half an hour. He also sent me messages like "and I immediately warn you that the tourist tax must be paid immediately in cash I have no rest so prepare the exact money in total is 48 euros".
The "greeter" they sent, which was a different guy, met us and let us into the place. To be fair, he was very nice to us. However, the cash transaction for their tourist tax felt very sketchy.
While we were checking in with him, we noted there was no soap, no shampoo, and no detergent for the washing machine. He told us that the other guy who was WhatsApping me would bring those to the apartment that day. After he left, we never heard from him or anyone else.
I tried contacting them throughout our stay with no response. Later in the day we arrived, we returned to the apartment that had an overwhelmingly strong sewage smell that stayed through almost the entirety of our stay. No one from SWEETSTAY helped. After the check-out, I contacted the agency who booked this stay for me. They tried to interface with SWEETSTAY who ultimately decided to lie about what happened. They said their team did a checklist with timestamped photos of the soap being put in the apartment. They said the greeter explained not to contact him or anyone else, but the hotel company, who had no contact information.
This company lies after happily taking your money. I will never book anything with them again and I would highly recommend others to stay away...
Read moreit was the worst experience I’ve ever had the apartment operated by SweetStay agency! you have to do a damage-deposit of 250 EUR before your check-in and the service doesn’t work with every cards (I had to ask friends to do it); all communication with the agency - my own initiative, they just send messages about money and check-out time, the majority of my questions were left unanswered; when we came to the apartment we were greeted by a host, the apartment wasn’t clean at all - the bed-linen, the towels, the toilet - everything was dirty as left by previous guests; the housekeeper came after 40 minutes of our waiting, he wasn’t English/Italian speaking and he was without the keys, so we had to wait him cleaning - it lasted 2 hours - so after the long way you can’t take a shower at least 3 hours there’s no electric kettle and you’re shown the light cut-out because of pure electric capabilities the beds at each bedroom are like lego-constructor - during the night it is falling apart and I asked to fix it three times and had no reply host was very polite during the check-in but as it was written at check-in message “i’ll not be able after your check-in” and it was really that way - you wrote a request and had a bot-answer with no decision or help-offering, and no apologies of course So I don’t recommend this apartment and agency. Thanks Florence - that’s what I definitely recommend . Instead of apologizes the agency wrote a total lie on my review on booking)) never ever use...
