I walked into the lobby and two concierge were talking and watched me enter look around and then one very slowly grab my bag and moved it 2 m to the wall and pointed to reception
I walked to reception the young women was polite but gave me the wrong check in details to complete and had copied my passport to another persons (an American) after I completed it I asked her again about it and only then did she realise the name didnāt match the passport or my booking
After much discussion and she was very apologetic I got my room key
I walked back over to my bag grab it and walked across the lobby - the 2 men watched me then I asked where is the lift and they pointed to another door the other way
Well what about done help ? None offered they continued their conversation - I struggled to the door got thru it and into the lift - I arrive at the 6th floor - looking for my room another staff member was there and pointed to a small set of stairs telling me you are down there - again no help so with my suitcase I struggled to my room
The hall way was old and outdated - apparently they are renovating it but not yet
The room however large and pleasant everything new - my room looked out onto a whole lot of offices and they could all see in my room - there was no sheer curtain so either you had to have the curtains drawn or everyone could see you ā¦.seriously get some sheer curtains !
I went to have a cup of tea and both the cups and kettle were dirty - I actually took my cup of tea downstairs to show receptionist itās was that bad
On my return they had replaced both the kettle and the cups - thank goodness
No mini bar and no conditioner - so after having a shower and washing my hair my hair looked like I had just got out of bed ! Seriously
This is not a cheap hotel but I was far from impressed - even low cost hotels help people with their bags and offer service and are polite
I felt that there was no warmth or service culture in this hotel - no one seamed to care or offer any service to the customers
I didnāt have breakfast so canāt tell you anything about that - good news is that with a bit of training and some enthusiasm this could be a good hotel ā¦.a few changes could make a big difference
As a solo female traveller it felt quite uncomfortable and a little unsafe and I simply didnāt feel welcome
REVIEWED after reading response
I am not sure what footage you were watching but it was not me ! I did not get any help with my bags on my way into hotel and only got answered by staff after I asked for help ! Point being here is that you could address the concerns and take action OR sadly as you have done take aim at the constructive review - your response states more about the hotel which is clearly lacking service and...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE! Before I start I will quantify my comments. I am a global traveller, I have stayed in hotels all over the world. I have stayed in Travelodges, The Savoy, The Hilton Park Lane, Holiday Inns, Bed and Breakfasts Boutique Hotels etc. I stayed at this hotel last night. It was advertised as a 5 star first class Mayfair hotel. The only part of that statement that is factual is that it is in Mayfair. We were greeted in a cool manner by a disinterested receptionist who after the usual check in formalities pointed in the direction of the lift and basically said find your own way to your room. The room was £356 for the night so I was expecting some quality, oh dear! Firstly the room (which was apparently a "superior" room was small. The furniture was tired, it was of dull brown wood of indeterminate origin and had chips out of it and was faded. There was no guest amenities book, writing implements or any other of the usual refinements. Bizarrely there was a brown fridge in the corner of the room which was empty and not plugged in. There were no ironing facilities and the request for an iron was treated as something of an inconvenience by housekeeping. The bathroom was acceptable but basic and despite that it was a double room there was only one bath robe. Whilst there was Sky TV in the room, the wall mounted TV itself was small and temperamental with wires hanging down the back. We had dinner in the restaurant which was vastly overpriced and hampered by the fact that the hotel allowed a party of around 20 incredibly rowdy, loud and drunken tourists to sit in the bar 30 feet away shouting and singing. The final straw came at checkout the following morning. We had paid for our meal and drinks the previous evening however at checkout we were charged again even though we were in possession of the receipt of payment. Despite the receipt they claimed to have no record of payment. I am still trying to claim this back, and unbelievably I have been told on the phone that they are now aware that we paid the previous evening but that they found themselves £22 down at the bar for drinks so charged it to us! In short I have quite honestly stayed in nicer, cleaner, more modern and classy Travelodges for £46. But if you want to spend this kind of money do yourselves a favour pay £100 more and stay at The Savoy or The Ritz to discover what 5 star really means. If I could give this place no stars I would. It's awful avoid it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would need an unlimited space to express my depression and unsatisfactory l have been through my whole stying in that hotel, Before that let me tell you that I have visited the hotel myself few months back to see if they have refurbished their rooms as I used to be a regular customer before 2019. I found out that they have refurbished some floors. And I visited those rooms to ensure thy are meeting my expectations as a customer. We made the reservation through a phone call to ensure being assigned to the new rooms during our visit in January and the reservation was made based on three conditions 1 new furnitured roomed 2 New furnitureed floors 3Two Connected rooms for my self and my friend.
Letās start at the arrival day we explained everything to the receptionist and all were cleared. Then I was shoked that we were in a very old room! I took it easy as we have just arrived and needed to rest. In the afternoon I went to the receptionist to see why we are not getting what we have requested for? And they said we will move you but we cant afford to get you a connected rooms not even in the same floor!!!Although this was not the deal.!!! We said that we will be glad to move somewhere els but they said that the policy is obligating us to cancel three days in advance!!! Guess what? They were able to offer us two rooms in same floor but not connected!!
We said fine. Just to fix the issue and not to waist more tome or to lose our deposit
We went to our rooms., unpacked our stuff then my friend noticed that the phone extension in her room was not working.
We went to the reception and they simply said there is an electricity issue and if she wishes they can transfer her to another room. With no other possible solution to fix the current issue.
In conclusion Staff were uncooperative Rooms not up to the standards Cleaning was not up to the standard
At the last day when we were checking out. We complained and the manager that we didnāt see through out our stay came an apologize saying the ones we dealed with are not permanent staff! Whose fault is that?
Conclusion, they are not recommended to spend even one night there and donāt deserve even a half...
