🚇Green Park 🍺 £6.50 Guinness ❤️ An intimate and welcoming pub. . The Footman is located on quiet Charles Street in the heart of Mayfair. Bustling Berkeley Square is just a short walk away. The nearest tube is Green Park. . This pub was established in 1759 and used to be called The Running Horse, it was frequented by the footmen who were in service to the households of Mayfair. This pub was rebuilt in the 1930’s. . The Footman is a close and intimate pub, the decor here is simple but elegant. There is a stylish servery clad in dark wood panelling with a lots of traditional brass fixtures and fittings. The seating is a mixture of poser tables and around the perimeter of the bar are comfy leather banquette’s. Upstairs is a dining room complete with leather booths. . The beer choice had a bit of something for everyone including three cask options. I was really indecisive and ended up ordering a Guinness, my pint was good and went down nicely. The food menu is upscale pub classics, Fish & Chips costs £22. . The pub was busy on this Saturday afternoon and the atmosphere here was great, there was a convivial buzz around the place and a good mix of clientele. I managed to find a seat and took a pew at one of the low level tables. I sat between a middle aged couple and a young couple to my right. The young couple were on a date and exchanging pleasantries and sharing a bowl of chips, it was the sweetest thing. The staff here are first class, the lady who served me was welcoming and very engaging. All this superb ambiance was accented by the low level funk and soulful soundtrack. . Mayfair is cosy classy pub central and @thefootmanw1 is one such pub. The vibe here is excellent and you are made to feel very welcome by the personable team running things. The simple and elegant surroundings makes it easy to settle in here. Another pub for your must visit list. . ℹ️ Info correct on...
Read moreI went here for a casual birthday dinner with a group of 7. When we entered the pub, at around 6pm, it was empty which was a bit worrying because you'd expect there to be some people there but it was nice to basically have the place to ourselves.
The restaurant area was upstairs which was decorated nicely and had a warm atmosphere. We were waited on by 2 staff to ourselves which was lovely and they were very friendly.
We ordered sourdough and olives for the table which was delicious. Please expect to pay quite a bit for food here as it is in Mayfair. For my main I had the rib-eye steak and a side of savoy cabbage with pancetta. They were absolutely delicious and well worth the price. My friends ordered the fish and chips and they said that it was some of the best they ever had.
Overall an excellent experience which is well worth the price. (I won't dock points for the price because what do you expect...
Read moreTerrible service, never got our food after over an hour wait. We booked a reservation here for a Sunday roast at 3:15 pm, and by 4:30 pm still didn't have our food and ended up leaving. We did ask about the food about 40 minutes in with no update for the waiter...he said 5 minutes. When we asked 15 minutes later, he said oh at least 20 minutes. The table beside us had arrived, ordered, eaten, and left at this point. I'm not sure the waiter even put our order in? He mumbled sorry a a few times but didn't comp anything (we had a few drinks) despite the wait. And the pub wasn't busy--there were empty tables around us. It didn't even have the cozy pub atmosphere...minimal decorations for the holidays and an empty, bare bones feel. Definitely would not recommend, and super disappointed in...
