Meh. How this place is the best restaurant in MK according to TripAdvisor i haven't a clue. 2 Of us arrived without booking, which was obviously a little problem but no big deal. Asked the Manager (politely - i am extremely polite) may we sit there |(by the window) "no you can't" Not "sorry sir there's only two of you and we have bookings" just blunt.. Yet another "manager" with little experience of talking to people. No smiles or niceties.. Why would he need to be excessively polite?... the place was eventually packed and extremely busy (on a Thursday night) and probably made a fortune.
Don't want to get into a character assassination so leave it there but if you have read my other reviews you'll see i am very honest and fair but not a good start.
Give your customers a smile mate, even if it doesn't cheer you up it'll not make customers think you're a ** (too late in my case).
Our waitress was polite enough.
Asked for a jug of water. Got two glasses of warm tap water.
They forgot the complimentary bread and dips. Which a young waiter who very politely interrupted us mid conversation ("sorry to interrupt your conversation gentlemen" - MANAGER- THAT is how you talk to a customer - make this kid manager and you'll not p* off your customers before they've even sat down) then brought. Bread was hard and dips were ridiculously small.. but fairly tasty... i guess.
Ordered the shard platter for 2. For £50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An absolute joke which i could have eaten by myself. Salad was tasty. Had to ask for more sauces as the portions are a disgrace. Food was... alright.
ANY other Turkish i've EVER been two this shared platter is MILES more than the two of us can eat but not here.
2 soft drinks, shared plate, plus tip (i'd not punish the waiting staff for their manager's lack of class) £60 quid.. As i said at the start of the review: Meh.
There are LOADS of better Turkish restaurants in MK - try Cappadocia in Woburn Sands.
But, honestly, you want the best of the best Turkish go to North west London (W. Finchley area), Green lanes etc and give your money to a smaller, less corporate chain that churn through customers.
My reviews are as objectively honest as i can manage and i have been doing this a long time.
Your mileage might vary and i am clearly in the vast minority according to the reviews but, i know two things in regards to eating out quite well - manners and quality of food (and drinks) and this place left us overwhelmingly...

As you walk in, the calming ambience immediately sets the tone for a relaxing meal. The decor is elegant yet welcoming, creating a perfect atmosphere for both casual and special occasions. The menu boasts a variety of both non-vegetarian and vegetarian dishes, catering to a wide range of tastes. The selection of hot and cold mezze is simply breath-taking, offering a tantalizing array of flavours that are sure to excite any palate. Each dish is prepared with great care and attention to detail, resulting in mouth-watering creations that leave you craving for more. Among the highlights, the signature dishes deserve a special mention. I highly recommend trying the Salmon or the Emperor's Chicken – both are exceptional and showcase the culinary prowess of the chefs. Every bite is a testament to the quality and freshness of the ingredients used. The staff at the Olive Tree Restaurant are incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every guest feels welcome and well taken care of. One particular staff member, Gulcan, stood out for her exceptional service. Her helpful nature and warm demeanor added an extra touch of hospitality that made the dining experience even more enjoyable.Overall, the Olive Tree Restaurant offers a superb dining experience with its excellent food, inviting ambience, and top-notch service. Whether you're in the mood for a casual meal or celebrating a special occasion, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Just wanted to thank you to the chef Onur Hanife for preparing those lovely dishes for the photoshoot and also the lovely Gulcan for helping me label the dishes. Thank you again and next visit will be with my Family....
Read moreWaitresses totally ignored our table multiple times despite many desperate attempts to get their attention, my dad had to actually walk up from the table twice to be served. Played happy birthday very loudly at least 5 times within a two hour period, impossible to hear the people I was dining with and had to shout over the table to be heard. The meat was nice, but the same boring salad is served with every dish and the portions are not generous. The taboulleh was so imbalanced and too heavy on the grain, not enough herbs and lemon juice. We wanted a dessert menu and were ignored for 15 minutes. By the time the waitress came, she said the kitchen was closing and she could no longer serve us the Knaffeh. This same waitress had an attitude and did not have good custom, and jabbed me with her long bright red nails as I handed her my cutlery, without apologising. Such nails are most certainly not suitable for kitchen/serving environment due to hygiene purposes. Most restaurants will let you know about last orders before the kitchen closes. When we left the restaurant we were ignored, no goodbye or thank you (despite the man who seated us having spotted us on the way out).
This is my first and last time dining with this establishment. Awful service and subpar food. Milton Keynes does not have a lot of restaurants so I understand why this place gets busy but I wouldn’t dine here even if I was short on choice. You need to learn how to treat...
