It was an amazing experience going to the Farne Islands. We saw many puffins up close. We bought the "Landing on Inner Farne" tickets. The first 1.5 hours is going around all the island to see the million of birds and the seals. Also a red light house. Full commentary throughout by the captain about the birds, the islands, the seals, Grace Darling and the light house. In a clear English pronunciation and accent, highly knowledgeable. Then 1 hour on the Inner Farne island. We were greeted by a National Trust ranger who explained many different birds on that island including puffin, guillemot, gannet, artic tarn. Thete is a chapel on the island. The first building on the island was built by St Aidan a d St Cuthbert in the sixth century. The chapel itself was built much later on. There is a toilet on the boat and on the island. Then we went back to Seahouses. The RNLI on the harbour has a museum where they have a big orange boat inside. Very impressive. There are about 5 restaurants nearby (5 mins walk), 2 of them are fish and chips. The toilets are just opposite the harbour (3 mins walk), next to the mini golf. Full credit to the captain who keep checking on us. "Are you alright?" he asked everyone. And chatted to some too. Some of us got wet because of the water splashing from the front left of the boat. So if you want dry, sit at the back of the boat. Plenty of seats there. Very windy on the boat and on the island so wear a windproof jacket with a hood. A hat or a hood is necessary on the Inner Farne island because of risk of getting bird dropping on our hair. And risk of a little bird pecking the top our head (not hurting though, just...
Read moreThis boat trip was incredible! Can highly recommend. The Captain (sorry can't remember his name 😬 massive apologies because we spoke to you a lot 🤦♂️) and the crew (Dave) were fantastic. Extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about everything. Absolutely fabulous experience we were smiling the whole time 😁. The Captain gave a lot of relevant information throughout the trip depending what we were looking at which made the experience all the more beautiful. We heard that we may be able to see whales and dolphins on this trip too but unfortunately luck was against us this time, but despite that the trip was well worth it and we will definitely be going again next time we are in Seahouses. We will also be telling friends and family to embark on this trip too. We were allowed to take food and drink on board as well. There is also a toilet on board which I feel can be essential when out at sea. We had such a lovely time it's something that will stay with us forever and the fact that you could tell how much the Captain and crew enjoyed it so much as well was really refreshing and inspiring. Dave was wonderful and every so often came to have a chat with us about what we were looking at which made the experience feel really personal and all the more special. Honestly can't thank you all enough for an amazing time. Even the lady at the little hut where we got our boarding passes was such a nice person and made us feel at ease. All the best to you guys, take care and we hope to see you again...
Read moreWe had THE most magical day with the extremely friendly and knowledgeable crew last week. Booking was so easy online and we were blessed with glorious weather too. We booked the Farne Islands and Holy Island trip all in one (£45pp) and I can highly recommend this SO much & it was worth every penny. It took more than 5 hours. We left at 11.45am promptly and returned about 5.40pm. The wildlife we experienced was just perfect. The seals were inquisitive and playful and the variety of birds was excellent. We were taken very safely and carefully as close as possible to the wildlife. (Tip - Puffins are seen during April/May/June here so we missed out unfortunately). Holy Island/Lindisfarne was quite surreal. It was so peaceful and calm and full of history. There were archaeological digs being carried out and I spent some time chatting to a lovely lady called Eleanor who worked for the Northumberland coastline. She explained all about the recent findings of human remains (clearly visible) dating back to possibly the 6th or 7th Century. This is something I will forever remember. Our return trip closely followed the beautiful Northumbrian Coastline and the Captain took us as near as possible to the majestic Bamburgh Castle. The boat trip was prompt, comfortable and the crew were available at all times to answer any questions. What a day to remember. Thank you Serenity Boat Tours. I will treasure these memories for many...
