It was a busy Sunday lunchtime and cold and windy, so looking forward somewhere for 4 adults and a dog we thought might be pushing it....... However we noticed in the window of the Hook fish and chip restaurant a sign saying 'dogs welcome'. We were greeted and the door was opened and we were given the choice of tables to sit at. Beautifully clean and fresh all vacant tables were laid ready with menus and cutlery etc. Our order was taken and our drinks were swiftly delivered to us followed very quickly by the food 😁. All the staff were so polite and respectful and their customer service was absolutely brilliant. The food was lovely. Freshly cooked and nicely served. As tables were being emptying the excellent staff were on it cleaning and settling up the area ready for the next people. Excellent value for money with good portions and it's Costa coffee ☕. It's all so very nice that if we go back to Seahouses will definitely go there again. Thanks to the staff for looking after us so we'll and thanks to the chefs for our lovely food. You can eat in or there is a takeaway counter too....
Read moreI like fish and chips but this was incredible! I’m from North Yorkshire and thought we had one of the best fish and chip shops going until me and my husband went to Hook Fish shop in Seahouses.
We ordered
•Fish and chips (Cod) which was worth what we paid at £11.50, (+cheaper than what we would usually pay) it’s was lovely fish, perfectly battered and a very good size!
•Fishcake, again was worth what we paid about £7.50. lovely and crispy, perfect taste and better than what we had expected.
•A battered sausage, which was delicious wasn’t too meaty but also tasted like something, crispy and plenty batter.
We got chips with the fish and fishcake, The chips were delicious, cooked perfectly, Just the right amount of Potato, fluffy but still crispy on the outside!
We did takeaway option, the shops was clean and tidy, looked it in the restaurant side too. Staff were really nice and friendly all had a smile on there face and would go above and beyond to help.
We would 100% be coming back here again, When we visit Seahouses next time, 100% Recommend to anyone in the area or wanting...
Read moreUnder new management, last time we ate here was pre covid, a 7 person 3 generation seated tea. That was good, and worthy of 5 stars on all fronts. It's under new management, into its second year Called in for fish & chips (a portion shared between us and mushy peas) as Lewis's and Neptune both had big queues and we were in a hurry. I should have opted to wait! Fish; haddock for the missus, cod for me, was OK. Reasonable portion size, crisp but pretty thick batter, but certainly not as good size or flavour as our usual choice, the chip van along at Beadnell. Chips were pretty average. Well salted, and generously soaked in vinegar, Ok for me, but possibly not to everyone's taste. Mushy peas, perfect. Price wise again pretty average. Service quick and efficient, a little distant but that's not what you go to a chippy for. So in conclusion, whilst there's nothing wrong with their offering, I'd suggest Lewis's or if not them then Neptune if you're in any way fussy about your fish and chips, and if you want the best take away take the 2 mile trip down to Beadnell and use the mobile...
