How to kill a business. Only went because it had the best review level - out if a very poor average for Seahouses. What I didn't do was read the recent reviews. Seems the place did have great reviews but changed hands recently and recent reviews are not good. Wandered why so few customers if it was the best in town. The young girl serving didn't welcome us in, but very few do these days. Menu was very limited, so didn't have much option. We decided to play it safe. My wife got a cheese and beans baked potato. I had a sausage panini, plus 2 teas. Nobody came to the table so I went to the counter to order. I asked for the baked potato with beans and cheese. She looked blankly at the screen for ages. Thinking she hadn't heard me and was waiting for me. I repeated Baked potato. Another stare. Eventually she asked me to point to it on the menu. I did. "Oh! You mean jackets" Then I realised, English wasn't her first language or strong point and she didn't know baked potato is a jacket potato. No problem I thought. Great to see a young girl making a life for herself in a new country - and working. We managed to order the panini. The pot of tea barely filled the small cups once, never mind a refill. When the food arrived, we were both sla k jawed. My panini was cremated. I couldn't cut it with a knife. My wife's baked potato was leathery and she felt at least a day old. O cheese. Just beans. My sausages likewise had seen better days. Oh well, there's always the salad. Then we tried it. It was literally poisoned with salt. So much h it ground in your teeth. Coleslaw the same. We gave it and left. I'd be surprised if they survive the month. Never mind the season. Sad, as they'll probably...
Read moreWe came here for lunch after seeing the previous great reviews. We generally look at Google reviews of new places to eat before we decide to visit, this one really let us down. Once we were ready to order we were told they were only accepting cash as they were under new management and needed to sort out the card machine, which wasn't really a big issue as we had cash on us, but I noticed the lady in front of me didn't and she was directed to the nearest cash machine. We waited a while for the drinks to come and then even longer for the food to come. When the food, came it was shockingly presented, the jacket potatoes came out in a bowl with the salad and crisps on a plate beside the bowl. This made it awkward to get to the salad and coleslaw. One of the meals even came with an added black hair, which was immediately off putting. The children's ham and Cheese toasties didn't look like any other ham and Cheese toasties we have seen before, they were just slices of thick cheese and supposedly ham in what looked like two pieces of toast, the cheese was just warm not melted and the toasties didn't have any salad or anything to accompany them, they meal was just a toastie.
Overall the visit was very dissapointing, I would save your money and go...
Read moreSo after our visit we had spoken to a few of the locals and according to them this cafe has recently been taken over and was a nice place to eat beforehand however our encounter wasn't pleasant. We arrived to a young girl serving with no life in her whatsoever, no smile no enthusiasm literally no care in her job, we ordered a small breakfast and the eggs benedict, the breakfast was abysmal with fried mushrooms that were bone dry, a black pudding which looked like it had been cooked first thing im the morning and then left under a heat lamp for the rest of the morning, a so called poached egg which was solid and the bacon was break your teeth crispy. Moving on to the eggs benedict, the bacon (substitute for ham) was again rock hard and a night mare to cut through, the egg yolk was perfect but the egg white was snotty in the centre and the sauce was well indescribable really it was just a little weird tasting. The mocha that my wife ordered was awful and was basically a hot chocolate with hot frothy milk and a spot of coffee but I can give some positive feedback, the flat white was decent and they were good enough to refund the food. Needless to say we will not be...
