Honest Jon Pizza — Local services in Preston

We've been going to Honest Jon's Pizza for a long time now. Absolutely loved his pizza. Rang tonight to find a different voice answer and discover it has changed hands. I asked if it was the same pizza, and the chap advised some ingredients the same, some had changed. We did our standard order and hoped for the best. On arrival I looked at the pizza and was instantly gutted. Gone are the thin crust artisan pizza and in place was thick crust standard takeaway. I expressed my disappointment there and then. The owner was extremely nice. He said he is sure I will like it, and I advised I'm sure I won't, which I don't. He offered me a discount, which I refused as I thought that to be unfair on him. He offered to make me one with a thin crust, which I refused. Unfortunately, the skill of making a quality pizza has left the place, else they'd never produce what they now do.

For years we've regularly gone to Honest Jon's, but unfortunately we won't be back. We're gutted our favourite pizza place in Preston has gone.

I'd have rather just not gone back, rather than do this scathing review, but I actually really like the guy, and would hate to see any new business fail. This review is to encourage the new owner to go back to the old owner and learn how to do pizza properly, so it is not just a replica of the myriad of takeaway pizzas places in Preston, and regains the status as a place which does authentic pizza that stands out from the rest.

If the new owner does start to make pizzas like the old ones I hope he'll reply on here and we'll be back.

The 2 stars were for his friendliness/customer service and the base being fresh, even though it still wasn't a quality base.

In a world where everyone seems to want thin crispy pizza crusts, I seem to be an anomaly: I like my pizzas to be incredibly thick and super doughy. No one does that, so I rarely get pizza... until I discovered Honest Jon's! I rang up asking if I could have a very thick pizza and the gentleman on the other end said he would do his best. Well his best was incredibly tasty! I am so happy to have found a place that can accommodate my pizza preferences. My boyfriend also got a pizza (a normal one) and he loved his as well. After plenty of hype about how good honest John's pizza is, we decided to try it for ourselves!! John himself is a wonderful hard working man, that's a given. The smell of the Pizzas in my car nothing short of WONDERFUL! The look of the Pizzas when we opened them up at home, nothing short of excitement! But I regret to say that it truly didn't live up to our expectations. It seems like only 1/3 of the pizza had cheese, and the overall flavours a little bland and weak. It truly is a shame to leave this review, but I'm just being honest. 11/10 for effort and customer service, but a 5/10 for flavour. Signing...
