I usually go to the Hulme Store when buying or returning and never experienced any problems whatsoever. I returned 2 products on separate occasions at Salford RR Branch and wished I never bothered.
1st occasion, I returned some new and unopened wireless ear phones. I must have been stood watching the cashier trying to peel the unopened and unscathed security tag for about 10 mins. She only stopped when she couldn't be bothered and noticed my stare of disappointment and anger!
2nd occasion. Brought a Levnovo Tab that was on sale but it was incredibly slow after booting up. It kept showing the white Lenovo loading sign and I didn't even get to transfer the data it was that bad. The Tab was rebooted to factory settings, no marks, no data and still had it's protective screen on. Went into the store and was dealt with by the manager at the time (Sam, I think). Explained my situation but he kept pointing to the big red Returns Policy notice on the wall. After arguing and watching him inspect every crescent of the Tab, he finally agreed to replace the Tab but as I had no faith in Lenovo, I requested a Samsung Tab A which was £100+ dearer. He made such a big fuss about it making it abundantly clear it doesn't matter if you are spending more. Do you really want to argue with a customer who (1) received a faulty product who can return it and receive a full refund (2) who is willing to pay more for a better product and (3) who is willing buy more items? F'in clueless sales tactics!!!
I understand the no returns policy for opened items but if the product is faulty or not up to scratch, I am entitled to return it for a replacement or a full refund. If it wasn't for my mum's birthday, I would have returned it and asked for a full refund and they would have lost out on a sale, plus additional tab covers, screen protectors etc.
What is even more disappointing, I was in there the other day and watched a customer return a similar tab, opened, and screen protector ripped off and was offered a full refund with no fuss! They didn't even need to get the F'n microscope out to examine it!!!
I brought my Tab back in February but was compelled to write this review immediately. Absolutely fumin!!!
FYI - Samsung Tab amazing. Levnovo Tab - better...
Read moreI visited Argos today to return a formula feeder maker set. The product was not used for its intended purpose at home. It was only briefly tested with water, immediately repacked, and was clearly faulty – the bottle was defective from the outset.
The first member of staff, she gave the impression that she was processing the return, but then passed it on to the shift manager in a manner that felt misleading.
The shift manager’s response was wholly inappropriate. She incorrectly claimed there was “residue” in the bottle when there was not. I explained, calmly and honestly, that the product had been tested only with water and was therefore still faulty and unused. Rather than listening, she dismissed my explanation, fixated on the words “not used,” and argued that because I had initially described it that way, I was not entitled to a return.
This approach was wrong. Under the Sales of Goods Act, a customer is entitled to a refund or replacement where goods are faulty or not of satisfactory quality. My description was entirely consistent: the product was not used for feeding, only briefly tested to identify the defect, and therefore not fit for purpose. A competent manager should have recognised this and processed the return without hostility.
Instead, I was met with aggression, poor attitude, and a refusal to resolve the issue. It was not only bad customer service but a complete disregard of Argos’ obligations to its customers.
I left feeling extremely disappointed. I was honest and genuine throughout, and I had a legitimate case. The manager, however, chose to make the process unnecessarily difficult and confrontational. This is not the level of service one expects from a...
Read moreI don’t usually have any problems picking up the items I ordered online at this store and I come here regularly. However, yesterday I picked it quite a large order and there had been I mix up in the warehouse so I was a few items short. I must say the delivery team both at the desk and the lads searching the warehouse worked tirelessly to find my missing items. They were able to locate all but one item which they immediately replaced by next day home delivery. They also again without any prompting from me have me a 10% discount voucher for my next order due to me being inconvenienced for time. I think it’s easy to right a positive review when everything runs smoothly so would definitely recommend this store to anybody ordering online because they get it right 99% of the time but are incredible when something goes wrong. Well done guys you should be proud of your team especially the lad who got it all...
