Very disappointing visit. The concept is great but the execution is not good.
Donāt book for kids who arenāt WELL OVER the āminimum height requirementā.
Our two families (a group of 7) visited excited to race. The smallest of the kids was measured when we arrived for check-in (we had also measured him before we booked) and although he met the 150cm minimum height requirement, the manager wanted to also check him in the Kart. On doing so, the manager deemed him not tall enough for the Kart. This was really disappointing but the manager insisted that for safety reasons, he couldnāt race.
The height-checker is merely a line drawn on the wall in marker pen. Hilariously, after the manager had measured the young lad, the original line got covered up by a poster, then a new line drawn a bit higher! (see picture)
Naturally, none of us wanted to race without him; it would be really mean for him to have to watch everyone else racing while he sat and waited. We asked for a refund but the manager said they couldnāt give us a refund. In fact, they couldnāt even refund the ticket for the person who couldnāt race! They could only offer him a chance to re-book another time when heās grown a bit more (who knows how tall that might need to be???). Given the fact that we had followed the website guidelines before booking the ticket and we were not at fault, I think anyone would agree that this is bad policy.
We were told by the manager that they had turned 6 other people away for the same reason that day. If this is true and itās a regular occurrence, why on earth isnāt the minimum height policy being addressed? It clearly isnāt working, resulting in disappointed kids and spoiled nights out, which are precious. I would also suggest that managers have the discretionary power to offer refunds to families who are affected by circumstances which are the venueās fault, not their own. The manager said that they didnāt have a number they could call and they could only send an e-mail, but he could t e-mail anyone at that time because e-mails could only be sent at the end of the night - didnāt exactly ring true to us.
An electrician should also be called to address the dangerous wiring issue in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was brilliant! I must say I was a little worried after seeing so many mixed reviews after booking!
We booked as a family of 5 for a Friday night. We all got on the track together, there was no mention of separating us. There was another group of 3 racing with us. We got a practice race and 5 other races, so 6 in total.
Each race is 2 and half mins long so it is over quite quickly, like other reviews mention. So it is quite expensive for the short time you are racing. We were probably in the car for 20-25 mins.
It would be great to have an option to book another session for half price, so you could have your first lot, have a break, chat and drink, then go back for a second lot. It would be pricey but would be a great option to offer. Or maybe a loyalty card so after so many bookings you got a free one?!
Def a fab experience and it even got smiles out of our grumpy teenager!
Just remember, when you're driving home, you're not in a chaos kart and can't fling boxing gloves or missiles at other cars!!
UPDATE: I cant leave a second review but we went again a couple of weeks after our first visit, it really wasn't as good, and Ive removed a star. Would have removed more but the first visit was sooo good i feel bad giving less than 4 stars! Last night staff had to force the safety stop on all cars every single round as there was a woman who didn't have a clue and two young kids who got their cars stuck so they had to help move them it ruined the whole experience. Proves the experience is mainly down to who you are racing with. It would be great if they took this into consideration. 8 carts proved far too many on the track last night. Maybe no more than 6 carts would mean a better experience, not as much money for them though so probably won't happen. 8 carts last night was def 2 or 3 too many and I felt like our money had been wasted.
Also, I've been twice now and haven't seen the complimentary...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAppalled, disappointed, shocked & intimidated by my interaction with your āmanagerā working tonight. Arrived early with 3 excited boys for my sons birthday, my son met the height & age requirements but this āmanagerā wanted to further assess him in a kart after he was allowed through. My sons head was on the rest, his feet touched the pedals, I said Iāve signed the disclaimer & his quad drives faster than the kart but despite this he said no he cannot ride. My son was in tears & ran out the building, his birthday ruined and whilst I can accept the decision made for safe guarding even though I disagreed with it for your insurance purposes it was the attitude, lack of respect, empathy & his response that followed that was inappropriate and quite shocking. I was told the others must still ride as your contract stipulates no refund will be given as theyāre all still eligible riders. Just wow, imagine the rest of the group riding leaving their friend visibly upset on his birthday. I was given your guest services email when I challenged this as I said itās not unreasonable for an exception to be made. I said this is unfair as he was being rude & aggressive & I said Iāll take this to social channels as I was appalled and he starts yelling infront of your staff āwe will not be threatened so make a note of this no refund at all to be given make a note against her nameā, he made something up that I hadnāt said too. The staff on arrival we could not fault them welcoming, warm & engaging however the so called āmanagerā evidently needs some training on customer service, dealing with people and especially children/ teens. A lack of empathy being shown towards an upset child & it seemed he enjoyed antagonising women with kids which is unacceptable behaviour. He wants to be ashamed of himself I hope this was captured on cctv as you can rest assured I will be taking...
