M&S — Local services in Sefton

CAFE review only.. i would give the store 5 stars but on Saturday we visited the M&S cafe and feel I must speak out. My 2 stars are because it was clean and there were plenty of staff. However, 3 ladies stood behind the til chatting away about there ongoings.. Infact I could tell you part of the convo but I wouldnt want to embarrass them... I was served 2 pots of tea without spoons so I went back to ask for spoons and was standing in their view waiting for them to finish chatting in their huddle... I felt bad for another lady who was patiently waiting until the staff finished what they had to say. In the end I interrupted the 3 woman and said "ladies were do you keep your spoons please as my drinks are going cold." Wowzer one of this team turned around and said to me " there they are you only had to ask"... I chocked at her attitude which fell short of friendly trust me.. They gave me a look that made me feel like I was the one in the wrong.. OUCH come on, no one minds a chinwag at work but please leave your all important gossip until after the queue has gone or you've finished. Sadly my last time I will visit. I don't do dirty looks or bad attitude and that's what I got for asking g for a blooming...

Love M&S just wish I could afford to shop there more for clothes. Food from the Food Hall is absolute top quality and now the same prices as anywhere else 🙂 Visited the cafe which was busy but we found a table fine. Staff were rushed off their feet but still had a smile for everyone. We had an afternoon tea and have to say it was disappointing. Sandwiches were ok but nothing special, scones were very nice though. I got a 'luxury' hot chocolate not sure what was luxurious about it because it tasted yuck! Probably would help if it hadn't have been served in what can only be described as an egg cup 😒 £4!!!!! Just been to use self serve till. Needed to clear something I was buying. No staff anywhere then “Em” came along in own clothes. No wonder I was stood there like a lemon wondering where staff was. Anyway she cleared the item pressed a few buttons and I went to pay with Apple Pay and card declined twice. Guy next to me had same problem. Called Em over.she said “oh the servers are down so use physical card or cash” to which I replied “have you put a sign up to tell people?” No reply. Asked again. No reply. Em you are rude. Stand out by being nice and wearing a uniform if your in till duty, regardless of your pay grade. You helped me just minutes beforehand so why didn’t you...
