Absolutely horrific. I never go out of my way to leave a bad review but I have never been so disgusted in all my life. The place wasn't busy and there was a lot of staff stood around staring at me and my partner tonight as we waited 25 minutes to even be seated. At one point a waitress came over, I thought she was finally coming to seat us but she just said "I don't know where the hostess has gone" and walked off! Eventually we were greeted by a rude hostess with no manners, who spoke to us like an inconvenience. The only reason we had stayed this long is because I really wanted a roast and was too hungry to go elsewhere at this point.
Eventually got a table and was told to order at the bar, where we stood there for a further 15 minutes whilst 2 staff stood starng at us. Eventually I asked a girl behind the bar if we could order and she ignored us and went to her colleague and asked him to "serve that woman" pointing at me. He looked at us, picked up a glass tray and disappeared in the back. Another 5 minutes later he eventually served us, no apology for the wait, no manners, not even a nice tone of voice. Paid for our meals and 2 drinks and he walked off without giving us glasses or telling us how to get our drinks. Asked the girl for drinks, she handed us 2 empty glasses and walked off, without explaining where or how we self serve. Eventually got our drinks and sat down, and a lady comes over and tells us to move because those tables are now clean and not in use. We move again, and finally go to get food.
I have never seen such unappealing food in my life. Meat dry, Yorkshire puddings all sloppy and squashed together into mush, everything looked disgusting, but at this point we served ourselves picking the few things that looked edible and sat down. We had one bite and couldn't even swallow it. At this point, we got up and left. I couldn't even face asking for a refund because of how anxious the staff had already made me feel. We left our whole plates and walked out.
This was tonight, 17th October and we have just returned home.
I cannot stress enough how poorly run this place is and how truly horrific the customer service is. It was like something out of a sitcom.
NEVER again. The place is an embarrassment and the staff should be ashamed. I wouldn't even serve that...
Read moreAbsolutely shocking service. The food was gorgeous ! And the chefs were so friendly and bubbly. Me and my friend came for a carvery this evening (Sunday evening) at 8:15 we were also a booking, originally booked in for 8:30 - I completely understand that this time is nearer to the end of a busy day, however the way we got treated and dismissed wasn’t nice at all we came all the way here from the city centre what taken longer than usual as the trains were off, Me and my friend both work in hospitality, so we understand that some days can be tougher than others But I don’t think I will ever take it out on a customer. We were made to feel like an inconvenience. Firstly it was very quiet and all the staff were lounging along the bar showing videos on each others phones and completely ignored us not even a polite hello, not even a smile. They didn’t seat us to a table or even welcome us .the first thing when we walked in that they sharply told us to do ‘was check if we want any of the food because that’s all what’s left’ and there was a perfectly fine amount left . They also forgot to get our drinks and we didn’t get any cutlery after asking a couple of times .The lady who was in our section spoken to me so rudely as I work for a Mitchell and Butler’s restaurant I shown my discount code at the end of the meal and she asked me why I’m not in work myself even though that I’ve actually came straight from work to come here and then she proceeded to say “ You should know better than coming in an hour before close then ”(again we were a booking so they where aware they had tables at this time) and I understand working in hospitality when you are trying to get an early dart it is frustrating when people seat later than what you’d like , but both me and my friend were working during the day and fancied a roast dinner. Overall, after the day that we even personally had it wasn’t very nice to be treated with such coldness and rudness It was the polar opposite to a warm welcome and friendliness -everything seemed like too much. we just wanted to be treated with some kindness , as I work in a M&B restaurant myself I understand that these are really important features & values when it comes to running a restaurant - very...
Read moreI booked a table for boxing Day and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately we were left very disappointed. As we arrived, we were not welcomed in any way, even though it was boxing day.
The starter was advertised as having sorbet and raspberry crunch, it was not sorbet, it was bits of fruit and there was no raspberry crunch. If you were out of stock, you could have just said, instead of passing off the issue to the customer leaving them with the choice of making a fuss or shutting up.
The meat and Yorkshire puddings on the roast were nice, but the rest of it was not. Everything tasted stale, as though it had been sitting under the heat lamps for some time.
The desserts took a long time to come out and were also not as advertised. The staff were more focused on setting up for breakfast the next day instead of the customers that were actually sitting in the restaurant. We got up to pay as nobody came to the table, we were standing around the till waiting to pay with staff walking past us setting up for the next day, I had to interrupt someone to get the bill. We just felt like we were in the way of everyone finishing their shift.
If the reason you give is that we booked a table near the end of the shift; in my opinion, if you allow people to book a table, you should get the same experience near the end of the day as you would at the start of the day.
I did not complain at the time because it was boxing day, everyone had probably had a long, busy day and I didn't want to...
