Well sorry to say my wife and I feel this pub has let us down today. Now I’ll start with saying we are the typical English type and rarely if ever make a complaint about food and drink but today warranted it. My wife ordered a the steak and ale pie, a dish she has eaten previously here. Suffice to say it seemed like cheap supermarket pie rather than the gourmet pie she has eaten there in the past. Next to no meat mostly mushroom and just sub standard. We ordered fish fingers for our daughter, when we cut into them they were a grey/brown rather than a nice white flakey fish, the little one didn’t eat them after trying one small piece. My burger was ok but more like an £8 chain restaurant burger rather than a £14 top class burger I’ve had previously. To top it off my pint of cider was flat with a tang like the lines hadn’t been cleaned correctly. When I went to pay and started to let the staff know of the issues I felt I was hurried along so other people didn’t here and was give a somewhat insulting 25% discount on just the pie. I paid and walked away rather than taking out my frustration on the bar staff who’s fault this is not. Very doubtful I’ll go back again unless the pub changes...
Read moreI'm not usually one for reviews, but I would just like to commend all the great friendly staff and everyone at Ye Olde Two Brewers. We've been staying locally on holiday for the week and we popped in briefly last Sunday for a pint and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming, we sat outside in the garden with our dogs, (Although we were told we would be more than welcome to sit inside with them), the views were beautiful. Unfortunately we were too late for food, but vowed to return during the week to try, (which we did twice!). Couldn't fault the food, it was proper lovely freshly cooked pub grub, Delicious! Good range of drinks as well. All the staff we spoke to were a credit to the pub, the chef and even the gardener today were all so friendly. I can't recommend the place enough, so if you're ever in the area it's definitely worth the walk down Gold...
Read moreDropped in for a meal at around 7.30 on a Tuesday evening. Warm and friendly greeting from the bar staff and a couple of decent pints of DoomBar.
Pub is a local, with a piano where a little impromptu piano lesson was happening and a dog with an ear infection - it was lovely. Comfy Winchester chairs by the log burner, we adopted for the evening.
Food was good, freshly made and tasty. Cheesy nachos with just tylhe right amount if jalapino. The veggie sausages and sweet potato fries were good as was the pork and apple mash. We didn't have room for pudding.
For a reasonably quiet Tuesday evening the street parking was a little congested so I can only imagine how it must be on a Friday night... probably think about a bit of a walk to get here, but it'd be a...
