Steel City Style — Local services in Sheffield

I had a mixed experience at Steel City Style Tattoos. The cleanliness and setup were great, and the quality of work was excellent. However, I was surprised and disappointed to be blocked on Instagram (leechinghippietattoo) and told to go elsewhere after asking a simple question about the price of a tattoo.

I was quoted £80 for a tattoo that said evil but reversed in the mirror said Live. I was happy with the price, and the end result was great. After showing the tattoo to a few people, they said I could have gotten it done cheaper.

I was still happy with the quality of work, 2 days after I asked the artist on Instagram what the cheapest she could do the skull above the text for if it took less time as £160 seemed quite a lot. When on the day I could have got both if she had the time for £160 all at once.

She could have said she was more expensive than other studios because she prided herself in quality work but instead blocked me.

I was surprised and disappointed by this reaction. I understand that some studios are more expensive than others, but I didn't think it was unreasonable to ask a question about the price. I would have been happy to pay the full price if I had known that asking a question would result in being blocked.

Overall, I would recommend Steel City Style Tattoos for the quality of work, but I would be hesitant to return after my experience. I would also recommend that other customers be aware that asking questions about the price may result in...

I have been going to Megan here since I found her last year - she has completed all of my tattoos to an incredible standard (making progress on my patchwork sleeve currently)and made me feel so comfortable and at ease, and is such a lovely person to talk to. I will never go to another artist! It’s very rare to find artists that you feel comfortable enough with to be able to ask for changes to placements and designs and even rarer to find so many in one studio. Everyone here is so lovely and talkative and it is a very nice place to spend a few hours!! I have also had a piercing by Effy who is based here which is so handy (especially with the 2for1 offer she does for tattoo clients) and of course she is just as lovely as the artists and amazing at what she does. Had the BEST tattooing experience with Yen today and I can’t recommend this studio enough!! I’m quite an anxious person and I’ve had quite a few tattoos, but Yen put me at ease as soon as I walked through the door and it’s the best tattooing experience I’ve ever had. Her work is phenomenal, had such a fun few hours, she’s super personable and chatty, and she really looks after you and encourages breaks often during your sessions which made sitting for a tattoo absolute bliss. I’ve never been so comfortable in a studio before. Highly, highly recommend this studio. 100% coming back as soon as I can.
